Thank you for double-checking. :)

I don't know that Nina Gardens actually exists as a signed road, but there's no denying the buildings do have addresses on "Nina Gardens". It's a weird situation. I also thought that Colonel Baker Place might get re-signed to "Nina Gardens", but it hadn't happened as of last year. (Hence the ask to double-check. :) )

I think "Nina Gardens" was originally the pathway in the courtyard in the middle of the low-rise, low-income townhouses that were here from the early 1990s until 2010. This is excerpted from the City's online archive of old aerial imagery (specifically the 1995 set; see https://maps.calgary.ca/calgaryimagery/): https://i.imgur.com/Grbi480.png

It's a little weird that a footpath has a "name", but it's not entirely unique. See for example "Fountain Walk SW" (way/510566164#map=19/51.04186/-114.0839). Believe it or not the condo apartments in the middle of that complex *do* have legal addresses on Fountain Walk SW! :D

All this said, just a heads up and friendly reminder: don't use Google Maps as a source. See osm.wiki/FAQ#Why_don't_you_just_use_Google_Maps/whoever_for_your_data? One of the reasons why we shouldn't, besides the questionable legality of doing so, is that Google Maps can be wrong! What got me mapping things on OSM in the first place was the many errors I found on Google Maps—fictitious neighbourhoods (https://www.google.ca/maps/place/Festuburt,+Calgary,+AB/@51.0017578,-114.1676025,15z/), towns that were just ranches that happened to have a post office a century ago (https://www.google.ca/maps/place/Pirmez+Creek,+AB+T3Z+2W8/@51.0400965,-114.4043672,15z/) or were never more than whistle-stops on the CPR, fictitious road names (https://www.google.ca/maps/place/Starr+Hill+SW,+Calgary,+AB+T3H+3J6/), etc.—that never got fixed, even after I tried to "suggest edits".

Thanks again!

Are you *sure* that the cul-de-sac named "Colonel Baker Place" has actually changed name to "Nina Gardens"?

There's no denying that the Columbus Place and Bishop's Manor apartments are signed with addresses on "Nina Gardens"—I'm the one who added them to the map—but it's not clear to me exactly where "Nina Gardens" is. The road you renamed to "Nina Gardens" was still signed "Colonel Baker Place" the last time I went past, which admittedly was last year.

If the name of the road has changed that's fine, but let's not be hasty and *assume* that just because the nearby apartment buildings have addresses on "Nina Gardens NE" that that road's name *should* be "Nina Gardens", even though it's not.

Hello,

FYI I have deleted the beaches you added here. These are grassy areas, nothing more. They may have appeared to be beaches from satellite imagery, but I can confirm from personal experience they're not.

Unfortunately the addition of beaches to OSM by new users has elicited a lot of scrutiny because of Pokemon Go, as described in a Washington Post article from a few days ago. https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2024/05/11/pokemon-go-fake-beaches-wiglett/ You don't seem to be among that user group that wants to add fake data to OSM, but please note that the addition of beaches to the map will have more eyes on it than usual, and it's nothing personal.

I can definitely confirm the beach on the south side of Hwy 8 exists though. :) Note however that you don't need to, and shouldn't add the tag `name=beach` to a beach area; it's totally superfluous, the `natural=beach` tag is all you need.

Welcome to OSM and happy mapping. :)

The changes you've made to the Deer Valley Mall are out-of-date.

This building outline is incorrect: way/335988865
You've enveloped an entirely separate Co-op grocery store, having changed it from building=yes to building:part=yes. (way/335988864/)
This interior corridor linking the Co-op to the mall building is entirely fictitious: way/1279199180
This Co-op store used to be connected to the mall building, but was separated TWELVE YEARS AGO.
This footpath around the back is fictitious: way/1279199162
This Walmart was closed, it doesn't exist anymore: way/1279199155

In Sunalta, you've added this park: way/1279199120 There's ALREADY a park there, you added a park perfectly coincident over top of it.

*sigh*...

FYI I've reported the user twice to the DWG, with no action yet.

It seems very obvious to me that Evpac99—and their myriad aliases—are working off of old info. The Coke Stage is now just a temporary stage, only in place for the 10 days' worth of Stampede. Same with Nashville North, and neither is shown in the location they were last year. I wouldn't even map them.

The bridge to Hall C of the BMO Centre was demolished a couple years ago, because the Victoria Park C-Train station was demolished, and the bridge across Macleod Trail was demolished. The second-storey entrance to Hall C *doesn't exist* anymore, that part of the building is GONE.

Frankly I don't trust that anything this user touches is accurate, and I think all of their changes should be reverted on sight.

Denver is now "near Calgary"...?

150472562

Thank you. :)

150416554

Can someone revert this entire changeset...?

150416554

Sigh... Why did you add these "disused" highway on/offramps at the Hwy22/Hwy1 interchange? way/1275412765, way/1275412765
*They don't exist*, the old ramps were demolished; why are you putting them back?

Why did you create this road route relation? relation/17508556/ It's not "Range Road 30", and if ever was it hasn't been signed that way in decades.

Why did you add these "emergency access" service roads? way/1275412786, way/1275412787
They don't exist anymore: they were merely temporary roads to divert traffic while the freeway was being built.

Do these paths exist: way/1275412794, way/1275412795, way/1275412796, way/1275412797, way/1275412798, way/1275412799, way/1275412800, way/1275412801, way/1275412802, way/1275412803 ? As far as I know they don't.

Why did you upgrade these roads from driveways to "minor/unclassified" roads, when I know for a fact they're just driveways, and I already fixed this fictitious tagging once before? way/32100255, way/1233655984, way/42963818

Hello again Evpac, a.k.a GregHeffley275, a.k.a Wimpy_Kid, a.k.a Evbot99. What's your next alias going to be?

Oops, thank you, haha

FYI the Telus Spark science centre in Calgary was never called "Telus World of Science". I've manually reverted your change to way/171779909. See changeset/149582478.

Hello Ewrt1,

Not sure where you're getting your info, but the "13th Avenue" you added to the map here is neither named 13th Avenue nor is it actually open to vehicular traffic, nor following your indicated path directly across the train tracks. Likewise when I went to a recent Flames game at the Saddledome the parking lots you changed to construction area were open, with plenty of cars parked in 'em...

I've updated the area as per changeset/149290769. If you know something I don't, please feel free to correct me.

Hello Evbot99,

Per my comment on changeset changeset/149133786, once again, can you please reduce the size of your changes?

I also noticed some changes you've made here are, frankly, fictitious. E.g. this section of 101st Ave in Edmonton: way/1267170630

It does not, and never did, exist like that. Can you please substantiate your sources? The changeset says you were using Esri imagery, but the Esri imgaery doesn't show this road...

149249186

I can definitely corroborate that the #43 bus route is completely different now, and the #143 no longer exists. Significant changes to the Calgary Transit bus routes were made circa 2018-2020; many long-time routes were eliminated or changed entirely after the newer "MAX" BRT routes went into service.

You can trust the Calgary Transit website to be up-to-date.

149133786

Can you please limit the size of your changesets? See osm.wiki/Changeset#Geographical_size_of_changesets . Making cross-Canada changes like this makes it extremely difficult for other contributors to understand what changes you've made.

Thanks!

147956937

Don't be too hard on people: in fairness, putting traffic signals at every crossing of the road ways is an acceptable way of doing it. ;)

I would tend to do it the way you've done it though, it's a lot simpler and more reflective of reality in my opinion!

I've just deleted this way entirely, it's mostly standing water.
