OK, thanks, I canceled the proposal.
That is not the same as what I am proposing. We cannot measure the width of every lane in the region, but we need the start and end of the dashed line section.
I added a proposal about this: osm.wiki/Proposed_features/turn:lanes:extension
We are trying to map the beginning and end of merging lanes, so it would be easier for autonomous vehicles to determine the lenght of the merging area. However, we did not find any tags for this in the official WIKI. Do you have any suggestion on how we should tag these?
I'll revert this because it adds a non-realistic angle. Please do not modify motorways in the Montreal region, since we aligned them with official data for better autonomous vehicle routing and behaviour.
Hi! Please don't modify alignments on motorways in Quebec Province. We worked very hard with official data to create precise merging points and alignements to enhance data for autonomous vehicles. At least, ask before modifying the alignments.

Sorry! I just see that you corrected the previous bad edit that was done by somebody else! Sorry, your edit is correct!!!
Hi! The previous editing was not incorrect. All motorways in the region were aligned with precise aerial imagery and must be connected to the right merging location, because with autonomous vehicles appearing, we need more precise merge points. Please ask before modifying precisely aligned data.

Bonjour! Merci!

Also these are indeed commercial building, which is more precise than building=yes
Hi! In the area, we prefer using points for shops instead of tagging them on the building. It allows us to add more than one shop per building when this is the case. Thanks for your understanding!

I understand your issues. The main issue is regarding autonomous vehicles and trucks that will be flooding the streets in the near future. The way openstreetmap users usually merge lanes at intersections creates bery hard turn just before the intersections and this could cuase erratic behaviour with autonomous vehicles. That is why we decided to at least make the merging more fluid (longer merging distances, merging at the end of non-dash/continuous lanes) instead of at the instersection. This was also discussed with official authorities like the MTQ. OpenStreetMap is currently used by autonomous vehicles to calculate turning radiuses and angles, so we need to make sure that we do not create articifial turns, especially on motorways and high speed arterials. If you want to discuss this issue further, you can send me private messages. Thanks for your understanding. In your example, the way the Google Maps roads are merged is way to hard. No vehicle will make that kind of hard merging. Google Maps is not used by autonomous vehicle for routing, but OpenStreetmap is already used (especially by Tesla and comma.ai). We are trying to get a compromise between theoretical information and practical data for autonomous routing.

Hi! highway ramps and motorways have been meticulously aligned in the montreal region using up to date aerial imagery and they were aligned to reduce trucks and buses turning radius. Please keep them as is or ask before modifying them. Thanks!
Please do not change motorway and motorway links geometry in the montreal region, they have been meticulously aligned already to reduce artificial turning penalties for trucks and buses.
