| 94963968 | Pourquoi ? |

| 94954776 | Take a closer look at those fantasy values : https://taginfo.openstreetmap.org/search?q=service%3Avehicle |
| 94985698 | And which were the consequences for the undiscussed ID change ? Your argumentation is that of a https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_troll#Concern_troll, probably in your case as you just know this "culture" |
| 94985698 | Yes, the introduction to ID editor is certainly pushing them, but does it therefore make more sense ? Nobody takes care of a clear syntax, there are even elements avoiding this in the wiki, It really looks like sabotage, while I think the ID editors just didn't think about their change and meanwhile probably don't want to admit it was an error. So what's your idea to get this problem solved ? Mine is to inform "the rest of the world" (about 7 million) that there's something completely wrong with the "established" regulations |
| 94985698 | Just to get your logic : if the ID Admins introduce (undiscussed) a real mess and it's ignored for several years, that's "established" ? But to align a syntax to the common one is unwanted ? |
| 94954776 | That's the problem with OSM : Several just tell the others to "discuss it first" (instead of a constructive input). This way the mess will just continue for another decade, avoiding progress in the syntax (and diversity of entries in general). The ignorance regarding the above mentioned car prefix just showed those communication tools aren't working. Most people therefore will abstain from participating in such unproductive skirmish and try do do "their thing". As an overview is missing and for a single person it consumes a lot of time to get one, this leads to a mess as in the vehicle example. it's not understandable that a syntax which is usual in other cases should be discussed again from scratch for bicycle and car. |
| 94954776 | I wouldn't say it's "unused", see https://taginfo.openstreetmap.org/search?q=bicycle%3A I would also be in favor of a standardized namespace for vehicle tags, but it seems those on the mailing list aren't :
This is especially confusing for shops which offer services for several vehicle types (or other products). So if you'd like to contribute to a solution, I's be very interested. What would you recommend ? |
| 93683842 | So what do you mean by "clean description" ? |
| 93683842 | Probably also interesting : osm.wiki/Talk:Tag:shop%3Dcar#Service_is_not_versatile_enough |
| 93683842 | That's an interesting thesis : The ID editor admins may simply proceed, causing a bunch of random tags which are not to handle and the info to the mailing list doesn't count ? By the way, here's the proposal : osm.wiki/Proposed_features/shop_subtags |
