there is a door on canal street for number 43, and a door around the corner on cranham street for number 42, both on what looks like the same building

ok having just walked around the corner I now see the problem

Thanks for checking, I forgot to move the numbers. Number 42 is the end of terrace and 41 is the next one up.

You're right, the pedestrian area only covers the part closest to Cornmarket street. It was already effectively a dead-end at that point. It might be worth splitting the road in half where the barriers are, or marking the barriers on the road.

I can't survey the exact spot as I've left Oxford for the moment.

I was glad to learn what those little huts outside churches were actually called - yeah they're probably mostly tagged as gates or shelters. I've tagged both of these as barrier=lych_gate now, and I'll know how to map them in future.

ah, I hadn't noticed it opened, I went past it today and yes Jessops is indeed there
