I get it - I know the philosophy but it's obviously a grey area. Is a closed path an informal path or a path with no access, or simply no longer a trail? I made these changes with my best judgment. There were mistakes on the map + a couple of areas were (probably recently) fenced off. I don't know the extent of the fences as I didn't walk along the perimeter of the entire fence. So this is observation + best judgement of what is a tricky area. I think the map of this area has improved through my edits but feel free to improve according to your own insights.

I was in the area - trails in this area were fenced off even though they're indeed visible on satellite. E.g. from visitor center northwards, giving the impression that the park authorities want visitors to take official path/hard track instead of unmarked trails in this area (as is the official rule) I admit I made one mistake on a path southwards from main track, which after local inspection turns out to be inaccessible. I found the same to be true for the trail along Rio Paine, parallel to Circuito O: trail is visible on satellite and partly accessible, but then suddenly fenced off. It's very confusing -- someone should do an in depth survey (although it'll be difficult in this area). I think policies and maintained tracks must have changed so satellite imagery is confusing.

Thanks - I have used JOSM to align the much more recent BING photo with PCN 2006 and then re-aligned the roads.

Dat Eggie - Bedankt voor het rechtzetten. Ja, ik wist dat routes verleggen niet ging met iD maar ik dacht dat ik door de bestaande routes precies over elkaar heen te leggen op dit stukje, het probleem kon omzeilen binnen iD. Jammer dat het niet gelukt is. Wist niet dat de route elders ook gebroken was. Dat was niet mijn werk hoop ik, want ik probeer van routes af te blijven, wetende dat het mis gaat met iD. Ik heb JOSM ook al geinstalleerd op mijn pc - maar voor de meeste simpele edits werkt iD wat sneller en bovendien wist ik ook niet hoe ik ervoor moest zorgen dat het daar ook niet mis ging. Heb je een pointer naar een handleiding over het editen van routes binnen JOSM?

Ja - die had ik inderdaad gezien. Maar ik heb het object als zodanig ook niet verwijderd - alleen het naamveld. Heb ik dit verkeerd geinterpreteerd?

Ah - dat is een betere oplossing inderdaad. Helaas kan ik vaak de wiki niet checken omdat ik geen verbinding krijg - om welke reden dan ook. Sport=multi is prima.

Eggie - ik zie nu je punt, ik heb deze keer uiteraard niet bewust “geplakt” dus het zal vanwege iD in de achtergrond gebeurd zijn. Ik ga die andere editors eens bekijken. Ik ga morgen je andere suggesties implementeren.

Omdat je zei dat je "het meeste" had gefixt dacht ik dat je die parkeerplaatsen nog moest doen. Vandaar dat ik het had veranderd. Ik zal de wiki nalezen op wat de best practices zijn.

Bedankt Eggie voor je reparaties, ook voor de andere edit. Wist niet of voertaal Engels of NLs moest zijn. Ik zat er nog over te denken of ik wel of niet de area moest koppelen aan de paden. Het leek me een nette oplossing alhoewel het inderdaad achteraf vervelend is om te editen. Ik zal vanaf nu alles zoveel mogelijk losgekoppeld laten. Als je een link hebt naar de beleidsregels zal ik me er verder in verdiepen.

Dear Bernard - thank you for your comments. Of course I am new to map editing, and your point about my first edit and about how to deal with private facilities is well taken - but I feel there is a difference between showing facilities on the map which everyone would be able to see or know exist because they can be observed from the public domain and which they may need to know the location of, although they are private and off-limits, versus those facilities that are strictly private and the location of which is of no interest to anyone. Many buildings have internal laundry facilities but still those are not indicated on a public map because they are of no interest to anyone except the owners and tenants of that building. Nobody except the residents of these premesis need to know about the existence and location of these washing machines. My problem is that I have seen random people trying to access our strictly private facilities here to do their laundry, by slipping into the building when others are leaving – the reason that they know there is such a facility is probably that it is indicated on a public map. This is unacceptable and for this reason I deleted the marker from the map. I think your suggestion to revert the edit would be applicable in a different case, namely, as said, for a facility that is private but the location of which is of general interest. I hope you agree.
