| Use of private supplier information to improve road attributes in Germany | As per the OEG, can you link to the wiki page (under OE/Activities) for this project? |

| Help required for adding access information to gates/ gated communities | @Rovastar: Yes, Amazon mappers don’t need to use StreetComplete. But Amazon is a big company with many skilled programmers. If you submitted patches to StreetComplete, you would be helping OSM in general. Isn’t that what you want. (😂 my OSM page explains my username) |
|
| Help required for adding access information to gates/ gated communities | I suggest you talk to the StreetComplete team, to see if it should support a “quest” to add Don’t forget
Please follow the Organised Editing Guidelines and write a wiki page about this specific task. |

| Community is hard | I feel you! OSM just keeps getting bigger, with more people. We can’t stay on top of it all. Which is great IMO. |
|
| All my personal opinions | @Nakaner My main reason: Transparency. I would feel a little deceptive to tweet about OSM without mentioning it. I do also restate that “Opinions my own”. (Often, people don’t read the twitter bio anyway.) |

| OSMF-Vorstand kodifiziert englischsprachige und anglo-amerikanische kulturelle Dominanz in der OSMF | @mikel I think what’s being asked is about whether we should be tolerant of intolerance. If we are “welcome to all”, does that mean we must be welcoming without limit, even to people acting intolerantly? |

| OSMF-Vorstand kodifiziert englischsprachige und anglo-amerikanische kulturelle Dominanz in der OSMF | There’s a lot here that I need to read & digest, but a few points: It appears this statement is lacking some parts (e.g. nationality, language). Oops! I think we must fix that. I’m not sure what “wealth discrimination” would look like. If you can give examples I can understand you better. I would probably accept adding “wealth” as a ground. Alas the English language dominates a lot, but I don’t think we should help that. I think we can tweak that sentence. I view this statement as aspirations, not binding. It’s too vague, and has some possible contradictions, to be a binding document. It, in my opinion, is certainly not a new “Foundation Document”. 🙂 You bring up some good points, and I think we should make some tweaks to this statement. We must translate it into other languages too. Perhaps after the first round of edits, we can start the translation process. |

| Diversity in OpenStreetMap, Seeking your help on ideas for the Foundation | “women are less interested in “technical stuff”“¹ Seriously dude? It’s not the 1950s any more, this just isn’t true. |
|
| Diversity in OpenStreetMap, Seeking your help on ideas for the Foundation | StackExchange brought in a new CoC which required the use of a person’s pronouns. Some mods didn’t like that, cited that as a reason for them quitting, or openly state they wouldn’t follow it, resulting in their removal as a SE mod (in possibly not the nicest way). In most discussion people aren’t saying the quiet bit out loud. Personally I find StackExchange’’s (now deleted) FAQ on their new pronoun rule very fair and helpful. |

| Stop this Leadership Nonsense | @RobJN, I think you have misread Frederik (“I also find the argument that leadership equates to white male as completely and utterly wrong.” #). I don’t believe Frederik is saying “being a white male makes you better at leadership”, but instead he is (I think) saying that what is called “leadership qualities” could be coded forms of racism or sexism. Marginalized groups have higher rates of impostor syndrome, or self-confidence issues. Telling them that you must be a “leader” to do big things in OSM, might make them think “I’m not allowed do that”. And that is bad. “grant me the confidence of a mediocre white man” has lots of results on Twitter. I’m the (successful) candidate quoted here. Perhaps I was too flippant, or blunt, in my original answer. But the question sounded too “corporate-speak” for me. I have lots of OSM Antifa/anarchist stickers. If you’d like some, send me your address and I will post them. In case you’re wondering where I stand on “leaders”. Ⓐ⚑ |

| Facebook: Hands Off Our Map | “are commercial interests in opposition to those of OpenStreetMap?” ¹ Are they always opposed? No. Are they always aligned? Oh no! There’s a neo-liberal view that everything good for the economy, is good for everyone. And vice versa, things bad for the economy are also always bad. (e.g. “sexism is bad because it’s bad for the economy”). There are some times when something is good for a company (or GDP), but is a bad and we should choose the thing that hurts shareholder value. I’d like to a future more like that of Linux: a healthy, stable organization”² Do you mean the Linux kernel? Cause… healthy?!?! 🤯 “characteristics common to lots of OSM participants as scandalous corporate malfeasance”³ Not many OSM participants invading millions of people’s privacy. |

| To make public my manifesto | (to change tact) If, as you imply, a CoC isn’t needed in OSM, then that means there would be no downsides to putting on in place, right? It’s 2019, the rarity of CoCs in OSM makes us look bad to some groups. If we have more CoCs, then that’s positive advertising for many people from marginalized groups, which will help OSM grow. No downsides, only advantages! 🙂 |
|
| To make public my manifesto | I don’t think there are “too much” of any one group, just that there aren’t enough of the others. I think we all want more craft mappers, and we have lots of them from certain countries/subgroups. Current minorities are an untapped resource! We can grow the number of passionate OSMers by looking outside the usual (say) free software user group field! 😃 OSM is about making an open map made by locals, a geo commons, owned by all, with everyone having equal access. That’s a pretty radical, political position. Some people just want to draw things on a map, that’s fine. I want to revolutionize how humanity makes maps. |

Er, yikes no. A bad use of “ok boomer” isn’t comparable to racial based insults. |
