ok, so it is open to foot/bike? I added what is probably an overly restrictive access tag to the road and barrier. any chance you can take a look and update it?

is there a barrier somewhere? the road status should probably go in an access tag and barrier, not in the name.

on Strava and Bing it looks like there may be a barrier here node/3674125303 with no access to the east. does that sound right?

Yosemite isn’t too bad since most of the creeks have been drawn by hand, but they are often split with culverts… compare that to most of the rest of the Sierra where it is terrible NHD flow lines, and there are lots of two node ways near the wikidata coordinates.

appreciate the help though!

thanks for helping with tagging. the https://wiki.openstreetmap.orgdata.link app doesn’t support waterway relations and often adds duplicate or redundant tags. any chance you could take a pass through these changes and see if the relation is tagged appropriately (if there is one)? I have been trying to keep tags on the relations

I've never found a tutorial that makes any sense to me, I just beat my head against the wall every time and hope something eventually works.

I assume that the data is correct and my query is wrong, and iterate until the query is more or less correct.

146445518

that query does return buildings but it doesn't render them.. try this instead, it shows the ways AND the nodes: https://overpass-turbo.eu/s/1GdG

146445518

what is the overpass query you are using?

146445518

the building and separate node are both tagged as toilets. is there a reason both of these are necessary?

access:foot should just be foot, and if this is conditional it should probably use a conditional access tag to exclude vehicles in the winter, kinda like the lower gate. node/9393654140

Woods Creek should probably be Woods Creek Trail?

it’s been a while, I think I was maybe matching the southern terminus tags when I was fixing the giant mess of PCT relations. feel free to remove it (and on the southern terminus, if it is also tagged similarly)

I updated the tags - the name should only contain the name. I moved the sourcing circumstances to the notes tag and added a wikidata tag.

if these still show up on satellite imagery (didn’t check myself) it is often better to add a lifecycle tag like destroyed: to prevent these from showing up again. this has happened a few times in the vicinity and up Lyell Canyon

it is not clear in either the USGS maps nor GNIS which way it goes, so I've truncated it around where the text ends on the 1994 quad. feel free to fix it if you have better data.

I added back one small section, otherwise looks good to me way/1213627343

I think they use the usgs 3dep data, the coverage around Whitney looks like the old pre-lidar (satellite based) stuff to me
