There's footway=crossing

As for specific paint style, like zebra, etc there's crossing:markings=*

128106830

Hello.
Please note that crossing=marked is intended for crosswalks with STOP sign.
Crosswalks controlled by traffic lights should be tagged as crossing=traffic_signals.

Hello.
When mapping rooftop swimming pools it's important to include location= tag as well.

Could you please elaborate why did you tag this as swimming pool?

I think you are over-analyzing this tag. For me 1928 is acceptable value based on nycdob's database. I consider it to be accurate enough for these purposes. If you want to go by nytimes article 1929, that's fine too. "~1928" is fine too.

128065997

For this situation I think 1928 or 1929 are close enough and would be accurate enough to encode the intended meaning.

128065997

"~1928" is suitable as well.

If you really want to find the exact date and relevant documents, you could try diging through DOBNOW website and see if they have those records digitized.

Hello.
What kind of typo did you fix that's spanning the whole world?

128065997

You can use https://jmapb.github.io/nycaabs/, website created by another nyc mapper to search for BIN or addresses and it pulls out useful metadata from nycdob's databases with shortcuts to specific pages and other useful features.

I generally consider nycdob's data to be accurate. Difference in dates might be when the building was completed vs when that company started operating from that building.

128065997

Virtually all buildings in NYC have a unique id from the NYC Department of Buildings. It is recorded in tag nycdoitt:bin=*. Using that value you can easily search BIS database to find all the filed documents associated with that buildings. Similarly you can use zola and search either for this address or BBL id of this building and find all the relevant information there.

You seem to have overly-defensive attitude towards of your edits.. 🤨I'm simply trying to make sure that accurate data is being recorded on the map by reviewing edits and making sure people don't make mistakes. There's no need for "you got me" sarcasm here..

But that mapillary image doesn't show "lower" on the street sign either. I'm just trying to understand if that's an official street name or a name you came up with?

128055973

I'm not saying you created the upper name, but you did create the "lower" one so I'm trying to clarify the info to ensure the correct info is recorded.

Please note that you CAN NOT use Google Maps or Google Streetview for any mapping in OSM. It is copyright violation! Please see osm.wiki/FAQ#Why_don't_you_just_use_Google_Maps/whoever_for_your_data?

Hello.
I noticed that you use "NYSDOP Orthoimagery - Latest" imagery to make your edits. Unfortunately for now that imagery is at least 3 years old, which can cease you to make changes based on outdated info. For now Bing and ERSI imagery is more up to date, so please consider using it when editing. 👍

Hello.
What is the source of these street names?
Based on the steetview imagery, it seems like only the "lower" street has name of West 134th. Upper street has no street name signs..
