Just because you want your website to look a certain way doesn't mean you can just go and vandalize the map used by millions of people around the world.
The official and proper name of nyc IS "New York". If you want your website to look a certain way, you should contact your webmaster to make changes there.

A small suggestion regarding "disused:" prefix. As documented in disused=*: it should be added to all tags that have business-specific info, not just biz type(ie name, website, phone, cuisine, etc).

Please try to contain each changeset limited to a smaller geographic area. Unfortunately, the way OSM works, your 3 communication towers notified everybody who watches the map for changes in the Eastern US. 😅 If you were to make 3 separate changesets, only people local to those areas would be notified. 👍

Does it make sense to have that strange shape cut out in the middle just for the steps? It seems like this just one big pedestrian area.

Please note that as per documented in description=* that field MUST NOT be used for advertising messages.
Additionally, as documented in contact=* social media information should be tagged with "contact:" prefix.
Also, "keywords" tag is not a thing in OSM.
Finally, opening hours must follow a specific syntax as documented in opening_hours=*

As such, all these issues have been address in other edits.
