I am curious whatever people were unaware about reason for repeating name tag in local language or whatever they were aware and for some reason thought that it is harmful.

But deleting name:fa means that information about local language was lost.

And it is not just me, JOSM validator complains if there is name:lang tag matching name tag.

For example, currently I am starting to preparing for edit that will add missing name:pl in Poland, exact opposite of 2. point in this edit.
