Hi chessrat,
Amazing work adding all those highways given how little of it is on aerial imagery! I hadn't realised how quickly the developers had built everything here as they only started just before the first lockdown, even completing the grassland - often the last thing developers bother with.
I'm not convinced the "Kirkleatham Green" name will stick though - I guess time will tell.
Thanks for surveying it!
Happy mapping,
Jez

Ah, in that case it was just the incorrect name that needed to be removed. I don't think it's possible to bring back the building quickly using the iD editor - hopefully someone else reading this comment can advise.

Yes I'm local, but I don't have much time to update the map at the moment - happy to help where I can!

Usually updates are visible within minutes, but sometimes it can take a little longer for some tiles to refresh.

Hi Snowinapril21, welcome to OpenStreetMap!

Has this building gone now? I know the Ron Hill shop closed last year, but wasn't expecting the building to be demolished too.

Hi marskemapper and welcome back!
A little tip: the iD editor has a 'Square' function (shortcut 'Q') which will make corners into right-angles. You can apply this to a whole building in one go if it's a simple building, or to individual corner nodes for more complicated buildings like Marske Hall.

Hi JohnC_Tees,
Are pedestrians really banned on only this short section of the A66? Your comment suggests to me that multiple apps say it's OK to run on a 70mph dual-carriageway with no footpath beside!!! Whilst it may be inadvisable to walk/run here, that doesn't mean it's illegal... the apps could do with tweaking methinks!

Hi RoryR_32,
In respect of your edits to Iron Works Moto Park, it looks like you've re-aligned the raceway to Bing aerial imagery, but Esri World is newer here so the previous (version #3) layout is more up-to-date.

Also, I'd be grateful if you could make edits in smaller areas before saving a changeset, as it makes it much harder to check changes when done over several countries at a time.

Hi JohnC_Tees, a belated welcome to OpenStreetMap!
You've been making some very useful edits around Yarm. I have one query though.

Here you have changed the name of way/54672860/history from Clockwood Gardens to Mount Leven Road. OS OpenMap Local shows the former name but I know that's not always accurate so I just wanted to double-check with you first.

Kind regards,
Jez

Hi DaveF,
Good work on separating out residential areas from the railway. However you've deleted the names on the residential areas too.
All over Teesside, most suburbs are tagged only on landuse=residential areas but looking at other places in England, I'm wondering if I should transfer these all to separate nodes?

Hi Jethro10,
You appear to have added a plethora of place=locality nodes in this changeset when I think the names should be added to proper features. Some are obvious (e.g. Saltburn Sands is the beach, not a locality) but others I've never heard of despite being relatively local.

You've clearly been mapping much longer than I have, but it just seems weird to me to describe these as localities, so I wondered whether I'm missing something?

Kind regards,
Jez

Hi JBGreen, welcome to OpenStreetMap!
Thank you for your useful edits around Yarm.

One note on this change: if the path is under the power line - which it looks like it is - that's where it should be on the map. Moving it to one side so it's visible as you have done is known as "mapping for the renderer" and is discouraged.

Hi DenHoot, welcome to OpenStreetMap!
You're making some great improvements to the area with your footpath additions.

I have one question though - at node/8114323426 the paths have been connected to the beck. It may be correct that the path goes through the beck (I can't see from satellite imagery due to the tree cover and I don't know the area) but it seems unlikely. Is there a bridge for the footpath, separate from the road?

Kind regards,
Jez

Hi again, just wondering why you've deleted the church? Yes, it was drawn very roughly - like a lot of the area! - but that's a reason to improve the drawing. Or has it been demolished recently?

Jez

Hi OmbrePanda, welcome to OpenStreetMap!
Can I draw your attention to the squaring function (shortcut "Q") - which makes the corners of buildings to be right-angles. You can select either the whole building or each corner in turn if any of the corners aren't a right-angle.

Hi Irish of the North,
Just checking - has this bus stop moved recently as the road markings are clearly visible on Bing closer to where it was placed originally?

Also, FYI I've restored the stop positions that were deleted in other changesets - the mapped bus routes are using these.

Hi chris_debian,
You've changed the tagging of way/44884022 from sidewalk=left to sidewalk=both, As this is one side of a dual carriageway this seems unlikely.

Also, why have you changed the petrol station (with convenience store) at node/2795645554 to a supermarket? It was still a petrol station when I visited it last month.

Kind regards,
Jez

Hi SEM55, just wondering which map these have come from as they're not on the layer available in iD and it may be useful for other areas? Also, have you surveyed these lines yourself as they don't seem to match up with Bing?
Kind regards, Jez

Hi mathpras,
access=costumers is a strange way to describe people driving through this Covid19 test site! (not sure what the correct tag should be given that you have to pre-book your appointment)

Hi Bass,
Phew, that's a relief! Your description had given me the impression it was copied.
Unlike wikipedia, you don't need to show/link to anything as proof and a GPS track/photograph isn't required. The fact you've already surveyed the area is our gold standard regardless of the method used.

Thank you for your edits!

Hi Bassington, welcome to OpenStreetMap!
Your intention is welcomed, but copying from copyrighted maps is not allowed unless you have permission.

Unfortunately, because that road alignment is so new, none of the aerial imagery available to us nor OS OpenMap Local shows it yet, so you'd need to survey it yourself e.g. with GPS.

In the mean time, unless you can clarify what you have surveyed so far, I think it might be safest if this changeset was reverted so that any further changes are not tainted by this edit.
Kind Regards,
Jez

Hi ZhaoqingMal, welcome to OpenStreetMap!
Can I draw your attention to the squaring tool (shortcut "Q") which causes the corners of areas to be at right-angles.
