Housekeeping: this changeset changed the track ways to be under construction. This is not accurate as no construction is taking place along the vast majority of the line. It has been reverted in changeset/81059653. I did not attempt discussing in this changeset prior to reverting as the contributor "e pt" has not responded to my previous repeated changeset comments.

Hello,

I have undone your change renaming St. Catharines, Ontario to "Saint Catharines" in changeset/80449525

The city is never referred to as "Saint Catharines". An explicit Canadian tagging guideline instructs not to blindly (wrongly) expand abbreviations.

Yeah the names seem alright now. Personally I'm still not a fan of the "from => to" duplication but I'll live with it

Hi Clay,

Yeah, it's a bit of a fluid situation. The Niagara trains were made year-round last September, but some maps are not yet updated and still say "summer weekend service" or similar.

On the weekend trains, the passenger announcements made are usually "This is a Niagara train making limited stops at ..."

The most authoritative written source I've used is https://www.gotransit.com/en/trip-planning/seeschedules/full-schedules which identifies the trains as part of Route 12, as opposed to Route 01-18 for Lakeshore West. Note that while the weekday trains (1954 and 1975) are included in the Lakeshore West tables (up to West Harbour), the weekend trains (e.g. 1960) are not. As another data point, booking Toronto to St. Catharines on viarail.ca gives GO options and lists the routes as "LAKESHORE" on weekdays and "ROUTE 12 - NIAGARA" on weekends...

I personally would have them as separate relations - they are clearly different services, with Lakeshore running half-hourly or better and Niagara being more of an excursion service. Another reason is it'll avoid having a clogged relation when all the variations of LW trains get added as individual PTv2 relations.

I would also prefer not having "GO Transit" in each of the names: it is repetitive, doesn't add much (there isn't any other "Lakeshore West line" nor "Niagara Falls / Toronto train") and duplicates the value of the operator and network tags.

Also, some of the PTv2 relations are now broken. When using JOSM, try to check for errors with gaps in ways.

Hi Clay. Can you expand on why you renamed the Niagara train to "Lakeshore West" train? This is not how they are branded by GO and that's not what is announced on the trains.

40A was not changed yet due to lack of time

Very much incomplete, but it should be better than before, and unfortunately I don't have a whole lot of time

Hi megamail,

Thank you for the addition! What is your source for this information?

Oh, just to say - I am aware the regional bus 55 and 70 relations don't connect - I don't know what route they take, but they definitely aren't taking the route that was mapped before. Carlisle Street, maybe?

Oh, is there also supposed to be a no left from westbound Macpherson to southbound Poplar Plains/Davenport? Island seems shaped like it?

No worries - that intersection looks like a nightmare...

is relation/9965313 really no_right_turn, or a typo?
