Dear captain_slow
Please do not destroy information which is not only correct (a name written on a sign attached to the guidepost), but complies with definitions/consensus (see information=guidepost):
The name tag related to a guidepost tag refers to the name written on the guidepost.
It does not matter that there might be other tags also storing the name of the village.
Would you destroy the name tag associated with a place tag or with a traffic sign=city limit tag? All are storing the same village name.
The guidepost name not being useful for you or getting displayed in a stupid way on a map by the renderer ("do not map for the renderer") is not a reason to destroy it.
For example, when on a hike, it is useful for orientation when reality (e.g. name and elevation printed on a guidepost) and information on the map match. When planning a hiking tour, it is useful to be able to find and retrieve location names as written on the guideposts.
Thank you
Gerd
