For those who haven’t read/voted yet:

I’ve proposed a tagging system to map Waiting Areas, Shelter Areas, Rescue Staging Areas found in all Italian municipalities (those with official signage).

The proposal is now in VOTING phase: osm.wiki/Proposal:Civil_Protection_Areas#Voting

The OSM Proposals Wiki is:

  • The place to learn how to use tags

  • The place where the community proposes, discusses and approves new tags

How to vote (step by step):

  1. If you don’t have an OSM account → osm.wiki/w/index.php?title=Special:CreateAccount&returnto=Main+Page → Register

  2. Click the proposal link above

  3. Scroll to the “Voting” section → click “edit” (modify)

  4. Write: {{vote yes}} –YourName 17:00, 9 Mar 2026 (UTC)
  5. Click “Save changes”

Votes are open from today until March 23.

Thanks to everyone who participates! Andrea
