Just started adding street names and correcting the existing mapping around the area local to my home (Warrington, UK). I'm hoping to get my local borough completed this week.

Hi there,
i just added a little footway and a playground in Cologne - Köln-Deutz.
Just near the St. Heribert Church, where i was seeking for a geocache.
Greetings,
goulex
Hello,
I just finished some work at http://car4car.psi.de so that the slippy map is now a lot faster by using cached osm mapnik tiles. I use the OSM raw material now only for Traffic generation/calcuations. Check it out.

Michael Willigens
Just took a bus up Caledonia Road on the way home. I had been peering at some suspicious looking bits of the Yahoo imagery, which looked like streets but weren't traced at all. Sure enough, they are right there in this quite central location, and easily visible from the 91 bus route, and not on the map yet! So that's a reminder to me, that eliminating all the unnamed streets is not the be all and end all. There's still important refinements to make closer to the centre of London.
Finaly time came to test out if my tracking / mapping solution was worth anything.
I'm running a windows based pocket pc with a bluetooth pocket pc with OSMtracker, and it seems to work quite good.
Only problem i had was getting the GPS connection to work initialy, but after that was sorted i've had no problems at all.
Next task is to edit / render the files captured during today.
Ok let´s see, if I can add some of mine tracks I´ve collected in the few last moths.
With the help of a local expert, the small village Goldlauter in the Thuringian Forest was added the last days.
Unfortunately, I was victim of a small JOSM bug which prevented STRG+S from working and cost me about 3 hours of mapping time :-( - The latest version doesn't include this bug, so make sure to check your JOSM version!
Can somebody tell me, why Osmarender seems to be blind in some areas, e.g. here: osm.org/?lat=50.6306&lon=10.7451&zoom=14&layers=0B0FTF ? On the left of the map, I can see that my edits on the type of "Suhler Straße" were progressed, but the center still remains empty...
And, yes, the complete site is called "Goldlauter-Heidersbach" and consists of two villages, but it started raining on Monday and I was biking :)
Last nights walk resulted in little useful tracking. I'm still experimenting with software for Pocket PC to record the tracks. Turbo GPS was pretty useless.
Today I went out at lunch and drove some of the smaller roads around Grantham, this time I used NoniGPSPlot. The tracks are more better, I'll get them into JOSM this evening and have a closer look.
Any suggestions on alternative software for the Pocket PC, or even a list of useful features you'd like in such software.

Last week, I decided to put my GPS to another good use and start mapping. Before that, I only occasionally corrected some errors in the map. After this week's Mapnik rendering run, the results are now visible for the "standard user" as well. I'm surprised to see that Osmarender uses more tags: access restrictions are not visible in Mapnik. :( But well, the area around my home is now somewhat closer to being completely mapped. :)
I'm surprised how easy it is to map, at least with basic features. JOSM may not be really ergonomic, but it's easier to use than I initially feared.
And I really need a voice recorder - they are far more practical to speak into than a cell phone, plus using it while driving is legal. ;)
I did some more walking last night and got a whole bunch of road names and the like around the Eastern side of Enoggera Barracks. I've asked for a osmarender refresh there on infromation freeway so they should appear in that layer soon if it works.
Wo Neukauf (area)?
Wo der Parkplatz-Bereich bei Neukauf?

I went to slippy map today to see the results of mapping from last week. I was amazed to see that I had succeeded in flooding a large portion of Birsfelden (outside Basel). I guess tagging a stream with layer=-1 is not only lazy, but also dangerous when the stream conjoins a major river at layer=0.
Hi,
gibts es da schon etwas wie:
inline=yes
rollerblade=yes
um Inlineskate geeignete Strecken zu kennzeichnen?
Chris

Am still working on, but mostly just thinking about, my OSM activity processes …
Had to visit the doctor yesterday and, of course, "It's Happening" Brisvegas mostly only runs hourly bus services during the day. I would have about 30 minutes to kill if I took the latest bus service arriving before my appointment (and we wonder why the roads are full of cars). "Ah", I thought, "jump off early and see what I can map". Checked the target area, and indeed it needs some names off the main arterials. Printer still refusing to print, so I drew me a mudmap from the slippy with required names highlit. Took the GPS unit just in case.
Alighted on Annerley Road. Easy walking and marking, down to Mater Hill, arriving right on time. Shame the doctor wasn't so punctual :~P. Used my time waiting in the doctor's surgery to clarify my handwriting and ponder wildly, as you do. Figured I can actually do quite a bit of mapping from the bus, turning more dead time each day into mapping time. Can't catch everything from a moving bus, so just build up details a bit more each day. Am particularly interested in recording details about bus stops.
This morning I got most of the bus stop names and numbers, some features. I thought about a bus stop details form I might produce to make the task easier. For the interim, I've made up little shorthand squiggles for different features. Fun if not useful. Actually, it will be useful - on the way back yesterday, I noticed yet more confused foreign visitors (students?), their first time on the route, struggling with the contextless lines the timetable producers seem to expect passengers can follow. Why o why can't our public service providers use their whole arse?
I've now put most of the names into the dataset, but suspect I just missed the weekly snapshot deadline.
