The "wider variety" is what I'd prefer instead of inventing a new expression from scratch. What's the problem with
model_aerodrome:aeroway=launchpad ? The first part says "not meant for the professional stuff", the second it's about flight (same as for the "big" rockets), the third says which type. "Gar nicht von mir zu verantworten" war bei mir auch. Und unzusammenhängendes Geschwurbel. Angeblich soll das wiki "die Bibel" sein. Hat aber nicht auf die entsprechenden Stellen hingewiesen. Sinnvolle Ergänzungen zu überbügeln da sich jemand als Lokalfürst fühlt geht jedenfalls nicht.

You're welcome, just stumbled on it. Anyway I think there should be a parameter to search for private rocket launch sites, similar to osm.wiki/Tag%3Aweather_control%3Dlaunchpad or military=launchpad. But leisure / amenity IMHO doesn't fit. Any idea ?
