In iD, when you've got a (house, say) way selected, you can hit "s" and it will automagically square it up for you.

There's a difference between actually tagging an area as allotments and just giving it the name "Allotments". In iD use the "search" box on the left to search for the allotments tag and then apply it by selecting it. Fixed this one for you.

Create an area and _tag_ it as "wood". All you've done here is create a bunch of lines that have the "name" "Trees".
