Just to be sure, are you doing remote mapping, i.e., without hiking the trails in person? If so, I’d like to mention a couple of points based on OSM best practices:

The Hiking mapping guidelines
recommend mapping what is actually on the ground. Remote mapping without additional reliable sources can sometimes lead to inaccuracies—not necessarily in geometry, but in attributes or trail status.

Leaving old route relations unchanged can be confusing for hikers, especially if the trail has been updated.

I don’t have many opportunities to check trail markings on the ground, but this summer I’ll likely pass through some sections in my region (North-East Italy). In addition, I can verify the geometry remotely using aerial imagery and LiDAR data for my region. I’d be happy to help with that.
