First, I wanted to say thanks for the passion for the project and for bringing the local cultural differences to my (our) attention.
I see what you mean and agree it's important to not lose fidelity in tagging and wanted to thank you for reviewing and helping accomplish that. However, I think this can and should be accomplished within the only the drink:* key. I've edited its talk page to bring about a community discussion about approproate values: osm.wiki/Talk:Key:drink#Replacement_for_%22retail%22%3F

It's been observed that the wiki page for drink:* has been edited without ample discussion, and I think that's part of the problem.

For this instance specifically, I think the beverage selection at this bakery could be described in one tag (my proposal being "drink:wine=retail") but you've brought about the important point that the wiki is unclear.

Since I see you have an OSM wiki page, would you be willing to look at and maybe even comment on the proposal I've made on the talk page for drink:* linked above? I think together we can help clarify this issue for future mappers by improving the wiki.

drink:* does not imply a beverage is to be consumed on the premises. Otherwise every liquor store tagged with drink:wine would be incorrect. See: shop=alcohol

Hi Martin, thanks for joining the conversation! While I completely agree with the premise that local knowledge drives quality on OSM, I think there’s definitely a case to be made for making remote fixes (and I think “never” touching objects that a mapper doesn’t know in person is too limiting). For example, if someone tagged the inner of a multipolygon as “innner” I assert that correction should be made even if outside of a mapper’s local area.

For this specific instance, could you link me to the page in the wiki that suggests sells:wine should be used instead of drink:wine? I’ve not been able to find that page but would love your help.

Gotcha. If I’m interpreting you correctly I think the specific tagging scheme should be drink:wine=bottled

Hi CP74Semnoz! Alsom when editing items tagged specifically as construction, it's often good practice to check in person as OSM generally should reflect what's "on the ground". In this case, construction is incomplete (and the path remains impassible for the time being), so I've gone in and retagged the path as highway=construction

I certainly want to most accurately reflect what is on the ground and agree it's a bit unclear as to the best way to map this. My interpretation of the wiki is, for instances with one building atop a single contiguous school ground, it's best to place address tags on the amenity=school separate from the school building. In fact, the talk page of the article you linked suggests that tagging scheme.

In what way does putting addr:* tags on the school ground prevent one from accurately representing addresses?

Could you please link me to a source on that best practice?

Thanks for making that more precise. I'd figured the bollard should have been a member of the way 'west drive' since that's often best practice, but it's clear this situation deviates from the norm given the massive width you've described. Appreciate the comment
