May I ask why you mapped farmyards as multipolygon relations consisting of one single member? A simple closed way would do as well, there’s no need to complicate matters IMHO.

I would be in the correct lane already since this won’t be its first announcement on this exit. The lane assistant would have told me to get into the rightmost lane miles before, so I would be a dumb driver to stick in the leftmost lane when I’m that close to the exit.

That means to me that the ramp to Köln will branch off the main road in 600 metres, and so I should get into the matching exit lane in time.

The problem with lane mapping is that the PND will tell you „go straight ahead“ as soon as it localized you within the correct lane (or "way" in its own image of the world, thinking you’re on an isolated carriageway now), meaning "follow this way". This is irritating for users since it might as well mean, "don’t take this exit" and panickingly pull off the exit lane again, regardless of the solid lane, and get wrong.

Sure, regularly for years. And I am regularly irritated when the device advises me to "turn right now" when the actual turn is still hundreds of meters ahead.

I agree with hsimpson. Exit lanes are never mapped as separate ways but tagged using turn:lanes=*.

Hint for the future: Bing imagery is about 6 or 7 years old in most part of the worlds. Have a look at the history of the way you’re going to refine, and if it’s newer, leave it as it is or ask the last editor about the state. Things always might have changed. You can look up the date of Bing imagery on JOSM by right click → Tile information → Capture Date)

Thanks, I think that would be the best way (preferably revert / part-revert your changeset) since the temporary construction routing has been surveyed for the previous state. Maybe one of the preceding editors could supply a GPX file?

May I ask which source you used for your geometry correction? The A1 is under construction here, so Bing imagery is outdated!

I am planning to walk a bit around the western parts of the Dales on my summer holiday so I was hoping for a path on WBF and found you added one just a few days ago :-) May I ask which way you got up there, if the path you mapped is the only bit you’ve been walking along?

Hi! Thanks for your work. However, there has some suspicion been aroused because of the following issues:

1. Very unusual ways of tagging. May I ask why you didn’t stick to the accepted keys given in the wiki? For instance, it’s ele=*, not Ground_Elv=*. This will make any processing of your data somewhat difficult.

2. Where did you get the information from? In the changeset comment, you declared "knowledge". It’s a bit hard to believe you know all dimensions of all those buildings to 10 nanometers of accuracy (which is pointless anyway).

May I kindly ask you to rework your changes according to OSM standards, so your work is really useful for the community? Thanks.

Right Ginaro – locality is for named hillsides, pastures etcetera. (Hillsides are often tagged natural=peak which is wrong unless there really is a visible peak.)

Possibly because there are so many scattered dwellings in the British countryside :-) As I said, in my idea on OSM usability, someone may tell me, "I live in Melrose, near Thirsk", I’ll reply, after a quick search, "yep, got it in my map, dont need further description". If this works on addr:housename as well with remote places, I’ll be happy to confine myself to more isolated places in using isolated_dwelling.

Why wouldn’t you, too close to Thirsk? While I use addr:housename for residential houses within larger dwellings (e.g. villages), my idea on remote places is that users should easily find them in the map, therefore I enter their names as a place on its own (provided it has a name, of course). Am I right in thinking isolated_dwelling is for places which are too small even to be called a hamlet?

Is there really no way now to get into York Street from the southern carriageway of Townwall Street (i.e. coming from the ferry terminal)?
