Carto wasn't rendering it before. It is now-I think what might have happened is when you split the way, the inner role for the relation was only transferred to one of the resulting ways. JOSM showed me a "unclosed MP" error. You're right, I should have let you know before fixing it. Sorry about that.

Hello,
Please take another look at the data you've imported as well as the various wiki pages for the Canvec import. I see some issues right away:
1. You appear to be importing more than the approved data types (e.g. relation/18736785 , way/1361881766 , way/1361881990)
2. Footways overlapping other highways. No highway=* objects from Canvec should be uploaded. (e.g. way/1361881992 , way/1361881766)
3. Overlapping water areas. (e.g. way/1361881743 , way/1361881859 , way/1361881987)
4. Deprecated tagging leftover. (e.g. way/1361881987 )
5. Duplicate place=*: node/12609014267
6. Duplicate natural=water on nodes (e.g. node/12608030522 , node/12606175009)
7. Relation with only a source tag: relation/18736805
8. Duplicate nodes (e.g. node/2442258591 , node/12608016044)

Most of the above are only examples of each issue (the first few I came across). There are likely more examples out there as well as more issues; I only looked at a few small areas which you imported.
Unfortunately, importing Canvec isn't quite as simple as just uploading the data to OSM. There's a lot of prep work, conflation, validation, and cleanup that has to go into it.
