Alte Bahnlinie werden grundsätzlich nicht gelöscht, sie sollen ja erkennbar bleiben. Wem nützt es, wenn immer nur irgendwo ein Stück sichtbar ist. Und genau dafür gibt es die verschiedenen Lebenszustände einer Bahnlinie mit proposed, construction, rail, disused, abandoned und razed.
Vielleicht schaust du dir mal OpenRailwayMap an.
