So SMART is an oddball. It's a temporally restricted passenger railroad, like the Oceanside-Escondido Sprinter and certain lines of the San Diego Trolley, where freight movements are only allowed when passenger service is shut down. The consensus is, when light rail is temporally restricted, the tracks that support freight rail should be `railway=rail` and the passenger-only tracks should be `railway=light_rail`.

Though that doesn't answer the question of whether SMART is light rail. Realistically, it could go either way. It's got the characteristics of most DMU hybrid light rail lines, but it's a bit longer and its service pattern is more commuter-oriented, with no trains for a couple of hours between commute periods. Tagging it as conventional rail would probably work just as well.

Perhaps this needs more discussion on the mailing list or Slack. This is an edge case and I'm not sure what's best here.

Hi Steve - I thought we had a discussion on this months ago. Shouldn't these ways remain `railway=rail` and not `railway=light_rail`? Light rail vehicles can travel on temporally restricted `railway=rail`, but freight trains can't travel on `railway=light_rail`.

Hi ironmatic1. usage=tourism is a documented tag with extensive use. Tracks can indeed be tagged as usage=tourism, regardless of whether they show up on OpenRailwayMap. If they don't show up, that is a problem with OpenRailwayMap's renderer and not with the underlying data. I've gone ahead reverted these tracks to usage=tourism.

The platforms at Clybourn were intentionally divided down the middle to preserve information about which routes stop on which side, as well as avoid creating multipolygons. Technically it could be mapped either way, but as a railway mapper, I find it easier to maintain when platforms are mapped as ways without multipolygon relations. I hope you don't mind me changing it back.

The LA Metro G Line is not a guided busway. A quick read of the wiki page for busways could have prevented you from making this mistake: highway=busway

Honestly there wasn't much thought behind it. I put it in that order because I felt US 62 was sort of a hodgepodge of other roads that formed a neat grid. It doesn't reflect any on-the-ground reality.

Why did you change the Metra 47th Street Yard from railway=service_station to railway=yard? This facility does not handle freight.

Could you explain what the ref value of "FAP 370" represents, and why it was applied on such a short segment of Western Boulevard?

In the future, please use more descriptive changeset comments than "adding details". Consider being more specific on what kinds of details you're adding. If you can summarize what you've worked on, it saves a lot of time and effort on the part of other mappers.

It looks like you've mistakenly deleted the station node here. Buildings are not stations—please keep them separate. If you choose to map a train station as a way, map an area covering the entire station including platforms.
