Hi CalJones93,

Thanks for contributing! The white and orange striped lines (white and grey on the map) are a road under construction, and you drew a new road on top of this instead of changing it to the residential road.

I'm not quite sure you're aware of what you're doing here, so I suggest going through the Walkthrough (maybe a box came up on your screen when you started editing?) - you can find it by pressing H on your keyboard when you're in the editor.

Helo tumbledust!

Thank you for adding buildings here - I just want to give you a pointer, apologies if this comment is a little bit long!

On the right of your editing screen, there should be a button with 3 squares on it (or press B on your keyboard) and this will bring up a bunch of imagery options and overlays that you can use!

In that settings window (you may need to scroll down a bit) there is something called "OSMUK Cadastral Parcels" - this shows each property boundary, and will enable you to split up semi detached houses and terraces, like here way/1464860645/history

Croeso GafrPiws!

This looks great, but don't forget to press Q after drawing a building to make it square :)

coteyka, it's *impossible* to edit the USA relation (relation/148838) without making a world spanning changeset box.

it's on well over 1000 versions right now with other multilingual tagging edits happening recently (changeset/176458385) so i'm pretty sure you've already seen something similar to this.

it really doesn't take much time or effort to scroll down and see what someone has changed, especially if you use something like "better osm.org" that highlights the changes for you.
less time than it takes to write a comment moaning about the size of a big box.👍

this is going to be my only comment on this changeset, i'm not entertaining things like this.

Hi there, are you sure these are all heaths?

A lot of upland areas were wrongly tagged as "heath" when in fact they are more grassland.

I think this is fine, if not better than what was there before. In a place like London it certainly helps to see the house number.

And if these building names arent in the address, then how is correspondence sent and received? It's got to be in there somewhere!

Hi,

I'd also like to ask about a source for the same node Mateusz mentioned above, as I can't find anything related to it on the web.

Hello Bobolo Hilliary!
Welcome to OpenStreetMap :)

I just want to give you a few words of advice
- You don't need to name the buildings with what they are, because this can be shown through the other tags.
- You can show if buildings are permanent or semi-permanent through the "building:material=*" tag, for example "building:material=wood"
- Don't worry, you can see the edit history of each house by right clicking the house, clicking 'Query features', finding the house on the left, then clicking 'History' at the bottom
- You can press Q on your keyboard to make buildings square shaped

I've gone ahead and added some tags for you as well, but I recommend looking at the Wiki for more information: osm.wiki/Beginners%27_guide

Happy mapping!

Alright, just remember your account is your responsibility!

Hi Jonny,

Why have you removed 'Derry' from the names here? The slash naming here is intentional and really shouldn't be changed without consulting the community.

Hi there,

I just want to ask you to be careful copying names in from Wikipedia, particularly regarding name:cy.

The Welsh Wikipedia uses their own style for place names, which is unofficial and not to be used. Any occurences of "Feneswela" may have stemmed from this. The official name for Venezuela in Welsh is Venezuela.

This is the source to use, it's from the Welsh Government and it is compatible with OSM licence:

Hi Bearman Creative,

Croeso i OSM! I just want to point a couple of things out to you

Buildings, when possible, should be squared - you can do this by clicking the building and pressing Q on your keyboard.

Also, house names should go in the top part of the address field, not the "name" field.

If you have any questions let me know!

Cofion and happy mapping

Hi there,

Are you sure these names and spellings are still being used?

Take for instance 'Blaen-uaun' - 'uaun' isn't a spelling you'd see very often these days
way/1334523768
plus the OS OpenData/OpenMap layers show the more modern 'Blaenwaun'

OSM is for mapping modern day features as they are now - for things like this I would recommend OpenHistoricalMap where you can map with time.

Hi mojfgigbbgfg,

Welcome to OSM, but what's going on here? made a B road a track, you changed an admin boundary into a site, and also turned a river into a track.

way/1270049764

I appreciate this is your first edit and it's fine to make mistakes, but please be careful when editing. iD has a tutorial you can follow if you're not sure. I will revert this changeset.

Hi R_Lewis,

Croeso i OSM - I do understand your frustration about people accessing (your?) land without permission. You did the right thing by adding the access=private tag, however it's still important that they are seen as driveways!

It takes time for data consumers (like satnavs) to receive OSM data, it's not instant.

Please see the Wiki for more information

Hi there,

Yes I'm trying to map the latter here - the reason why I haven't made it a MP yet is that the boundaries are not completely clear from that first link. I agree that the boundaries need looking at. Thanks for the other two links.

As for the name, Port Talbot is a very English-speaking area and the current consensus is that the dominant language is in the name field. (I disagree with this personally but that is what it is).
