Hello, and welcome to OSM.

Please do not repeat addresses on restaurants (or shops, amenities…); addresses are already on the database and the POI was linked to it. I will fix your edit.

Hello,

The address in automatically computed from the container building (street and house number)
way/142694409

And the postcode and municipality is automatically computed by the existing areas.

This is the reason why in most cases this information should never be duplicated on shops themselves.

Hello,

Is this problem with the router documented? Should there be such a problem ("bicycle=no" on nodes is only relevant on Key:barrier but should be ignored elsewhere, in particular "highway=crossing", which only means that no cycle path crosses here), the normal way would be to fix the issue directly in the routing engine instead of changing the underlying data.

AFAIK, there are thousands of crossing nodes with "bicycle=no" in Belgium, especially now that MapComplete adds it.

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

Please always make sure to type real descriptions when you upload data to the OSM database.

Changeset titles like "Kleine Änderungen" or "Diverse Änderungen" say nothing about what you did/why you changed something.

You might want to read this wiki page prior to doing further edits.

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

It looks like you also erased the highway type of a road in Canada.

Hello, and thanks for this.

FYI, there are better tags to indicate this kind of facility, i.e. social_facility:for=refugee. This is what we did, because presenting this point as an NGO is exaggerated (there are only a few real NGO on the map, like Doctors without Borders or Amnesty International).
We fixed your edit, no further change is expected from you here.

Hello,

Use "railway:track_ref" instead of "railway:ref" to indicate the track number.

We fixed all the changes to made on the railway infrastructure today (track numbers and removal of fake "names" of train platforms).

160341095

Hello,
Railway platforms do not have "names". The reference number (1, 2, …) is already stored in the "ref" tag.
AFAIK, all those ref codes are properly set on railway stations in Belgium.
Please do not change railway infrastructure, you are doing it wrong.

## BAD CHANGESET
Reverted

Hello,
I need to inform you that we decided to undo your changes entirely. Despite some parts seemed to be useful, the damage to building structures or areas + the amount of tagging errors was too high and would take too much time to fix patiently.

I would like to encourage you to spend a little more time reading about we map in OSM and how to use tags in a correct manner. Also, please never change the shape of buildings in Brussels and never draw buildings on aerial imagery. Also, avoid using "building" or "appartement" in the name of buildings, we don’t do that. Same for the name of the operator: the area is named "European School Brussels III"; if you type the operator on a place it must match this name, apps won’t be able to match it with the school if you use your own spelling to describe it.
Try to start with smaller edits, on less-critical features, and reach out for help by leaving notes for more advanced stuff.
Thanks in advance.

Hello, and welcome to OSM.

I wish there was a nicer way of welcoming you to OSM, but unfortunately, this message is to alert you that the way you have edited the map so far is incorrect and destructive.

Dealing with buildings in OSM is an advanced technique, even more when it comes to splitting buildings. In this changeset, you erased one building to draw multiple named structures instead, adding all sort of fancy tags suggested by the online editor. This is not the way we map buildings in OSM; buildings outlines in Brussels are obtained by UrbIS numerical imagery, and NEVER by tracing on (distorted) aerial pictures, because those pictures do not show the real location of buildings.

We could save the name of the buildings, as building parts. Some third-party apps like the main layer on osm.org won’t show the names but they are in the database anyway, so please do not touch.

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

Again, please exercice caution with buildings and do not leave the map in an unstable state with "ref:UrbIS" tag assigned to an unmatched shape. Please ask for help for complicated stuff instead of breaking things and expecting that volunteers will clean up.

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

Please do not attach landuse areas to highways.

Here is an example here: node/12409927125 Don’t do that, please.

160136463

The Mug already tagged as a node, please do not touch the building, this is not how OSM works.

ESA school already on the map.

Please do not create a duplicate, and undo your edit.

Hello,

Many of your latest contributions are nice and helpful.

Can I please encourage you to draw landuse or natural areas without attaching them to routable ways, though. I know that the simple online editor (iD) does not warn about this mistake but it is definitely not a recommended way to map.

Example here:
way/1341324879 has 5 nodes in common with a highway=track (way/36988752). 😖

Thanks in advance.

159848154

Fine, but is the name visible on the front? Or mentioned in a public document?

Verifiability is a core principle of OpenStreetMap, and that was the question we asked you here.

159745492

I don’t mind any option but you may be interested to know that this is a temporary situation.

The city does that every winter now, to prevent having too much motor traffic across the winter market, and the normal situation is resumed in the first week of January. Perhaps not worth the hassle.

Hello,

There is a problem with this edit. I want to alert you, to avoid seeing the same problem multiple times.

You added this road.
way/1339546448

It shoud connect… another road.
It does not because you attached it to a landuse area (which is not routable and should never be attached to roads) and to the tram track (which is not routable either).

Here is how you can fix it: Extend your road to the west to connect Ch. Alsembergstwg and remove node/12391004410.
