I understand. There are some "old" signs left. For example the village of Alytus had a sign of „Alytaus kaimas“, to distinguish it from neighbouring town of Alytus. However, if we change the name of place=* point, then we have to follow the change and change the name of the admin boundaries. Then we have to change all addr:city values, then addr:city values of all POI's inside the admin boundaries etc etc. That would open an even larger can of worms.
BTW: Soviet remnant "railway" place type is designated with additional rank=20 which can be used for cartographic purposes (for example to deemphasize it on a map).

Well we can contact Snaiperis. He uses iD which does not allow adding landuse=basin as per Lithuanian agreement made years ago (https://lt.wikibooks.org/wiki/Atviro_%C5%BEem%C4%97lapio_vadovas/Redagavimas/Plotai). It is one of iD's well known problems.
BTW, Snaiperis has already tested (6 months ago) our version of iD with correct tagging and error presets. We were delayed by address import, but it should launch soon.
Note: Brian Sperlongano is continuing his world wide mass scale removal of perfectly working tags, while at the same time writing on wiki that such changes should not be done. This is just one example of such a change.

Why oh why are you doing this again and again? This is NOT the way to tag forest names (only old very small forest names remain). The iD editor is nowhere near of being able to do such thing. You've deleted the old relation and created a new one. And there are tons of problems with this changeset. I do not understand why you've also combined other not ralated changes with this big one (also dirty/incorrect ones). I'm considering reverting this changeset fully, because it is ridiculous we have to fix after your changes which never bring anything at least a little bit useful. There are people with skills doing such changes, you're NOT helping.

You threats are pointless, you can escalate this matter to DWH or holy fathers right now. ZeLonewolf (Brian Sperlongano) is known to have absolutely no clue in cartography/GIS and has been caught at least once while engaging in criminal like activities and straight lying (and you're his accomplice). You have nothing in common with local Lithuanian community so you or Brian have absolutely no say in how we map. OpenStreetMap wiki has never been an authoritative source and its value has been decreasing steadily because of people like Brian. We're looking at ways to move information to more professional media away from OSM wiki and people like Brian.

Ne, OpenStreetMap su Google nelabai daug panašumų turi. Google viskas uždara, nieko niekur neprileidžia ir duomenų panaudoti neleidžia. Todėl pvz. negalima absoliučiai nieko kopijuoti nei iš google į OSM, nei iš OSM į google - abu variantai būtų nusikaltimas.

Laba diena. „1“ yra pastato adreso numeris, kuris jau yra pažymėtas. Tai nėra pastato „pavadinimas“. Šis ir kiti analogiški pakeitimai atšaukti.

Wiki is just an impression of a few people on how tags are used. It is not an authoritative source on how tags should be used. Admin is still pretty active even today. And in generel, it is clear what he was trying to map, so simply removing his tagging just for the sake of "not on wiki" is not useful. Semi-automated changes without local knowledge are also not useful.
