Also also, you've duplicated the Pattenmakers Arms way/387142831 and way/62065885 and dredged up some old tags and put them on the building.

I'll have to revert this, but can you please explain exactly what you're trying to do here?

36742267

Also, I'd suggest reading osm.wiki/Good_changeset_comments - "fixing amenities" doesn't really explain what changes you made and what the source was.

I mapped that bit of Clay Cross High Street not that long ago, and it looked pretty shut then - still set up internally as a fast food place, unopened mail on the doormat and a "fast food place available" sign in the window. I'd be surprised if someone has turned it around and opened it since then :)

Hi, just spotted that way/129851227#map=18/53.32189/-1.59466 seems to overlap with way/106101182 , which probably wasn't intentional. Not sure whether it overlapped before this edit (if so, my apologies for raising it here!).

Just wondered - was there any reason that the A38 reference was removed from http://osm.mapki.com/history/way.php?id=4075137 (among others) and added to http://osm.mapki.com/history/way.php?id=118555005 (among others)? I've no idea whether it's "right" or "wrong" - just curious what the logic was.

Hi,
Is way/360623787 still brownfield? It looked pretty much finished when I walked past a (on the other side of the river) at New Year.

Cheers,
Andy

Just mentioning it in case you didn't notice what happened here and it wasn't what was intended - a node that was deleted from Scotland 10 years ago was undeleted and moved to Russia.

Hope you don't mind me mentioning this, just trying to help...

Andy Townsend

Rather than guesing, might it be better to add an OSM note? The Bing imagery here shows no road at all. What information do you have that there is a road here (now, as opoosed to a proposed or under-construction one)? Did a customer of one of Mapbox's customers report it?

Just in case you haven't spotted it, someone has added note/500708 about way/250656700 which was added here.

I suspect that the remaining duplicates have been fixed in changeset/36632697 and similar changesets now.

Thanks for fixing...

No problem, thanks for fixing.

There's not an API for that either as far as I'm aware. You're not the first person who's wondered about it. There is https://github.com/ToeBee/ChangesetMD , which allows you to throw the changeset dump at a database and then do things with it, but I've not tried it. There's http://resultmaps.neis-one.org/osm-discussions of course, but that's only for the last week.

I don't think you'll get mails for comments on your own changesets. You will, I suspect, get this one :)

What is the problem with a path intersecting with a derelict_canal? I can think of several examples locally to me (just a bit north of here) where that happens, where the canal is still very much visible as a derelict_canal but a path crosses it or even runs along it.

Did you try asking the previous mapper about it? He just lives down the road and I'm sure will be able to explain...

Hello,
You've added a "ref" here of "Stana␣V-Ocolire␣7␣km" to http://osm.mapki.com/history/way.php?id=303316467 . This seems a very unlikely ref (and it seems very unlikely that a grade2 track would have a "ref" at all). Can you please explain the source of it? If you're adding refs or names just to make something appear on a handheld GPS, please don't - OSM is about recording things as they are, not as you'd like them to be (and of course a GPS can easily tell you how far it is to Stana anyway).

Also please do use meaningful changeset comments - "repair work" does not explain to other mappers what you changed and why, and what the source of the change was.

Best Regards,
Andy Townsend (SomeoneElse) on behald of OpenStreetMap's Data Working Group.

@SHARCRASH I agree, it can be frustrating that OSM changeset comments don't allow more than 255 characters. However, you've always got the option (as soon as the changeset is closed) of adding a changeset discussion comment that extends it - you can explain all you like in there.
Cheers,
Andy

You were probably wondering why your "quarters of Naples" didn't show up the first time that you tried. The answer is that you added them to the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.

Please don't import anything into OpenStreetMap without reading osm.wiki/Import/Guidelines and the pages linked from there such as osm.wiki/Automated_Edits_code_of_conduct .
Openstreetmap is a collaborative project, and we need to work together if we are to create the best map.

If you've never edited openstreetmap before please don't jump right in and dump huge quantities of data in there. Start small, test things out, and talk to other people locally. You can find other local users via the talk-it list: https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-it

On way/382654397/history you've changed "max_height" to "maxheight". I may be wrong, but suspect you haven't actually looked in any detail at what you're changing here:

1) The thing has only name, min_height and max_height tags. Based on the presence of "min_height", it's likely to be some sort of building, so deserving of "height" rather than "maxheight".

2) It has _only_ min_height, max_height and name tags, so it's not obviously anything in OSM

3) The name translates as "... tests" from Polish, so clearly it's not a real thing at all, just a test.

... and this is why mechanical edits in OSM are frowned upon :)
