See discussion on changeset/39206684 .

If you go to the other side of the bridge from http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3793331 , you can see the situation fairly clearly.

Additionally I'd suggest to the style maintainer of the Garmin map style that you are using that convenience stores are pretty useful things for cyclists!

You can, of course, create your own Garmin maps and include as many features as you like.

Any reason why you removed some previouslly-mapped information in here (such as the floor in the Angel - node/621107543/history )? I added them back in changeset/40028527 .

@RicoZ Indeed, and local mappers will I'm sure pick those up over time.

The solution to "some cave entrances are incorrectly mapped as caves" is not to change ALL caves to cave entrances - that's just differently wrong.

By their very nature (being underground and not visible on aerial imagery) caves and cave entrances aren't really suitable objects for "non-survey-based bulk tag changes" (what the less polite might call "armchair tagfiddling"). People familiar with a particular cave might say that "XYZ as mapped is just the entrance to a cave, not the cave itself, so I'll change it", but people UNfamiliar with an object really shouldn't guess, as it's pretty much impossible to tell without a survey.

Hi,
I'm guessing that way/319762883 isn't all "hampshire gate"?

Hello and welcome to OpenStreetMap! Edits that you make update the one shared map that everyone sees. That's why it's important that only valid edits are made to the map. If you want to experiment with a test API, you can do so over at http://api06.dev.openstreetmap.org (an exact copy of the main site apart from the map display).

You're still doing it - changeset/39865489 runs from the US midwest to China, and the changeset comment is just "#to-fix:overlappingminorhighways, Fixing minor highways which overlap other major highways, http://osmlab.github.io/to-fix/#/task/overlappingminorhighways". It doesn't give me any clues what might have changed locally to me and why.

39721248

No - not explain to me; explain to the mappers who mapped these features in the first place.

Just wondering - is this the cave entrance at the top of the Lathkill? If so, that's already there as node/1986526629 . There are plenty of other caves around here, though...

Hehe - thanks for that! I've moved the piano to the approximate location within the pub and added an access tag - hope that's OK.
Also - there were a couple of (as yet unmapped) pianos on the bottom floor of St Pancras station the last time I was there - do those want adding?
The Amber Hotel at Toadhole Furnace node/736979121 has an organ in the back room - I don't know if you're interested in that (not customer access though).

What suggests to you that the lower part of Cliff Lane way/33738958 is an unclassified road? I was there only the other day - it was a gravel track (signed as a public bridleway) at the time.
Cheers,
Andy

On further investigation (going through all the tag changes in here), I've reverted this for the reasons described above and in changeset/39953300 . Far more tag changes made things "more wrong" rather than just "differently wrong" or correct" A large number of items do need proper local survey - for example node/300463574 is presumably misplaced and should incorporate the bowls pitch to the north, but what clubs (of the 3 on site) is the building part of?
The use of an Americanism in place of a Britsh English term "football" can and should be discussed on talk-gb as part of a "mechanical edit" discussion, but more worrying was the removal of "sport" tags from a number of features (including source=survey ones) in the list - see the tag changes in http://osmhv.openstreetmap.de/changeset.jsp?id=39812846 . If you believe that that change was not a mistake, then I'd suggest that it's something that you need to discuss that on talk-gb as well, and with previous mappers of those objects.

39809705

What does "fixme=no sport = not a pitch." on way/26446023 mean? If you have a question about how something was tagged previously, then I'd suggest you talk to the person who added the tag in the first place. They're more likely to have local knowledge of the area and will be able to explain why they did what they did.

39809705

Actually - there are more than a few of these (deletion of a previously-surveyed sport). Perhaps a full revert of these changesets would be the best way forward, and let local mappers continue to survey and tag correctly?

39809705

Re way/142305512/history (The Acres Recreation Ground) you'd deleted "sport". Can you explain what other sports are regularly played there?

39809705

Can you explain the source of "netball" on way/422897831 ? It's a while since I was there, but I went with just "tennis" at the time. From the imagery there appears to be a couple of MUGAs with tennis courts set out in the middle. I'd actually expect the sports played here to vary - perhaps tennis in the summer, most likely football in the winter, and perhaps basketball all year round.
Also I don't understand how way/422897831 can overlap with way/171237532 , since there's a solid wall around the MUGA.
