Any change is "mechanical" if it doesn't take into account the meaning of the underlying data - if you don't think about how the change that you are making relates to the real world.

It's pretty clear here and also in changeset/34932460 that you haven't given any thought to any such meaning, and it's therefore a "mechanical" change.

Please, step back a bit and _think_ about what you are actually doing. This way has a "prow:ref" key. The key "source:prow:ref=definitive_statement" means "the source of the prow:ref key is the definitive statement". You've changed it to "source:prow_ref" but there is no "prow_ref" key.

Additionally, if you do not understand what these keys mean or what a "definitive statement" is you should not be changing their values on OSM.

Ah! So it is. Thanks for that.

Did you get a chance to chat with any of the users who had previously added duplicate stuff? I ask mainly because some of the stuff that you tidied up in Manchester seemed to be part of a more widespreead problem there (part of a main road got deleted by the user that you deleted duplicate stuff from)?

Just checking are "test" node/3440156193 and "test123" node/3440159293 really restaurants? I'm guessing that they might be test data, in which case they should be removed (in case anyone is hungry and in need of a bite to eat)

@SK53 I've added a note note/468953 , but it might be worth just removing this. I don't remember it.

I don't believe that e.g. "A52 (W) - Nottingham, Bingham;A52 (E)- Grantham;Boston (Skegness & East Coast)" is the name of the junction here, is it? It's just a description of where you can get to. See osm.wiki/Names#Name_is_the_name_only (for what names are designed for) and highway=motorway_junction#Destination_of_the_exit (for how you might want to store this sort of thing).
Hope you don't mind me mentioning this - just trying to help. Any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
Cheers,
Andy

Are you sure that there is a duplicate footpath and road here? It doesn't look like it from the imagery.

28817862

Just checking - are you sure that the footpath joins the road at node/765266220 ? The Bing imagery suggests there might be a wall between them.

What exactly is "N.T.S. First Connections"? Is there really a location here in addition to the buoy? Looking at a photo: http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page.php?station=13010 , I don't see any "NTS First Connections" anywhere?

Hello and welcome to OpenStreetMap! I'm sure that whoever introduced you to OSM suggested that you do an edit at home and then start adding things in Lesotho. That's a good idea - but it helps if you can "save" the edits in one area before moving on to do edits somewhere else. That way you don't see an individual edit seeming to cover most of Europe and Africa, like this:
changeset/35215667
Anyway, hope you don't mind me mentioning this, just trying to help. Any questions please don't hesitate to ask!
Cheers,
Andy

Just checking - was the deletion of way/208592566/history in here deliberate? I'm guessing it got left-over from a previous JOSM session perhaps? The building was at osm.org/?mlat=8.15347&mlon=16.49111&zoom=18#map=18/8.15347/16.49111 . It's difficult to figure out whether it's a valid deletion or not because there's not a create correspondance between OSM and (current) Bing.

The very large bounding box will appear in the "history" list of mostpeople on four continents, even though there are 5 items in it. I'm a mapper in Derbyshire, England, and without looking in more detail have no idea whether e.g. "The Lobby" is near me or not.

35161159

Just checking - did you mean to delete the wall way/363116705/history (i.e. you've been there, surveyed it, and there's no wall there)? Where one of the wall nodes was osm.org/?mlat=55.40488&mlon=-2.65370&zoom=18#map=18/55.40488/-2.65370 I can see only a landuse=residential and some adjacent mixed forest, no wall.
Also, looking at osm.org/edit#map=19/55.40488/-2.65370 shows lots of duplicate nodes such as node/3673174708/history and node/3673177280/history (not created by this changeset, though).

Hola y bienvenidos a OpenStreetMap! Algo salió mal aquí (parte de un aeropuerto de Dortmund fue trasladado), pero he cambiado eso. También he marcado con "Escuela Provincial N ° 7.705" "amenity=school", por lo que los mapas saben que es una escuela y muestran como uno.

Hello and welcome to OpenStreetMap! Something went wrong here (part of an airport in Dortmund was moved) but I've fixed that. I've also labelled "Escuela Provincial N° 7.705" "amenity=school" so that maps know that it is a school and will display it as one.

Hello and welcome to OpenStreetMap! Thanks for adding all the "access" details around Mumbles. However, one thing that I noticed was that the Wales Coast Path route marker node/3790119597/history which was at osm.org/?mlat=51.57534&mlon=-3.99767&zoom=18#map=18/51.57534/-3.99767 seems to have been accidentally deleted (I'm sure that it was there a month ago). Do you mind if I re-add it?
Also, any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
Cheers,
Andy

Hello, and welcome to OpenStreetMap!
Just spotted this edit - the "Broken Spoke Bike Co-Op" sounds more like a bike shop than an unattended tool stand. See https://lists.openstreetmap.org/pipermail/tagging/2015-November/027419.html for more details about what a "bicycle repair station" is supposed to be (I'd never heard of one before some were added to OpenStreetMap; I've still never seen one).
Hope you don't mind me mentioning this and if you've got any questions please don't hesitate to ask.
Cheers,
Andy

Hi - just for info, I've "undeleted" the building that the post office was in in changeset/35263431 . The thing that makes it appear as a "post office" when people look for one in the data is the "amenity=post_office" tag rather than the "building=yes" one, so people looking for a post office won't get confused and come here, they'll be taken to the new one on Littlemoor Road.
Hope you don't mind - just trying to help - and any questions please don't hesitate to ask.
Cheers,
Andy.

Hello, a number of "new" admin lelev 6 boundaries seem to be missing tags that were on the previous version of the relation, For example, in this changeset
relation/5606061/history is missing the wikipedia tag that was previously on relation/2338313/history .
(there are other examples of other admin level 6 entities and other missing osm tags - many, if not most, of this sort of object in Mexico seems to be affected).
Can you explain what happened and what steps you are taking to resolve the problem?
Best Regards,
Andy Townsend (SomeoneElse) on behalf of OpenStreetMap's Data Working Group.

Somehow I suspect that the name of way/373220554 isn't really "wisnia #c64040". Please don't use OpenStreetMap for test data - there are lots of other options for doing that.

Thanks for deleting the fictional edits in changeset/33582446 here.

Did you get a chance to try and contact the mapper here and explain that OSM is only for things that actually exist in the real world?

In the past I've pointed mappers like that to OpenGeoFiction - so that if they want to add imaginary towns, they can.
Cheers,
Andy (SomeoneElse).
