טופל. בסוף הוספתי גם את התרגום

I am not the original deleter, and don't know if this is a mistake or not.

But I did notice many mapped intermittent streams in Israel simply do not really exist and removed some in the Carmel region. Discussion here:

אני אתקן את עצמי. ייתכן שבמקרה הזה התרגום אכן נמצא בשימוש. לפחות כך רואים בכמה מקורות ברשת:

https://www.kkl-jnf.org/tourism-and-recreation/scenic-lookouts/scenic-lookouts-northern-israel/beit_yaaran.aspx

Welcome to OSM :)

Optionally, you might want to consider adding `incline=up` or `incline=down` to the steps. See incline=*

Same note as node/2947586878

This is probably better translated as "spot" rather than "corner".

163626744

Rather than "shlu"

163626744

This is better transliterated as "Shalev"

163629096

This is probably better translated as "spot" rather than "corner". They are written the same in Hebrew.

You're more than welcome, and thank you for your efforts!

For the record, I have opened a discussion in the IL forum: https://community.openstreetmap.org/t/bad-automated-translations/127581/2

For the record, two relevant discussions:

1. changeset/163628695

Another important point to consider is translation vs transliteration. For example, If we call this node "eye of the...", it would be a manufactured name and not a real one. It would be misleading since it's not a used name.

In this case, Transliteration may be better, i.e. "Ein Hik".

There are cases where transliteration is not suitable either. This is discussed here: osm.wiki/Names#When_to_avoid_transliteration

In my opinion, it's fine if you found a reliable online translation (a Wikipedia article for example), but I wouldn't suggest using Google Translate as a fallback

163628695

As for your question, as far as I know there's currently no automated way to properly handle translations. Especially for more distant languages or languages with less training data available.

You simply need a human who understands the context.

163628695

Thank you for understanding. I'll try fixing the ones in my region.

163628695

Thank you for your intentions, but using Google Translate is a terrible idea and is unacceptable. Google Translate does not understand local context and you have probably introduced numerous errors in English. Please do not use Google Translate for English names in Israel, and preferably not worldwide either!

163620680

I think you should stop making these worldwide automated translations. Many of them are simply wrong.

163628695

Hello. Were are you getting these translations from? They don't all make sense.

163620680

Hello. I don't think this is a good translation. I think it's more of "hidden lake".

163720241

Hello. You completely removed the Hebrew name. I think this is an error.

שלום, מחקתם לחלוטין את השם העברי של בית היערן. נדמה לי שטעיתם בעריכה.
