Hi Humez,

I think when I started mapping them I was doing this, but after a while we decided it was useful information so created a specific tag., and this is tracked on Gregory Williams site (see column "has module count" http://osm.gregorywilliams.me.uk/solar/northampton.html). The good thing is that the information is at least collected.

Before the imagery wasnt often good enough, but now most panels can be counted.

Hi Humez,

Did you know that there is a tag generator:solar:modules which is used to store a count of the number of solar modules making up a panel? If you scroll down to the advanced tag editor in iD it will autocomplete the value if you type "gener" but watch for "generator:place" too.

Hi Guy,

I've added module count to the 2 solar panels and tweaked the direction a bit. I dont know if you are aware but we now favour the tag "direction" rather than "generator:orientation": one obvious benefit is that iD will show it directly. I've therefore added the direction tag with the same info.

Not really enough local knowledge (I did wander down past the school/leisure centre complex back in Jan to Machins Lane. Kevjs1982 is more likely to be aware of current status.

Hi & Welcome to OpenStreetMap,

I've taken the liberty of changing the path/trail you;ve added from "shortcut trail" to "footway". This will make sure it shows up on the map on the website and is used by other applications (particularly ones for pedestrian routing)

I've also connected this through to Abington Avenue with a separate way along the twitchell (snickett/ginne : not sure which holds sway in Sutton).

If you see any other missing shortcut footpaths in the area do please add them. There are a fair few already there, but I suspect there are still ones missing.

I hope this helps.

Might be worth retaining the old name as alt_name or old_name too.

Hi Becca7,

Thanks for your first edit, particularly as this is the sort of detail which helps everyone.

You may wish to consider changing access=private to access=destination as this allows routing to the location by delivery drivers. In particular, Amazon Logistics make extensive use of OpenStreetMap for detailed routing on the last mile of delivery runs. I suspect getting to a gate with an entryphone may be adequate for their purposes.

Hi Richard,

You're not the only one. I had a go at documenting this a while back on the wiki amenity=social_club.

Often mapped as pubs & bars, but given these are members' clubs it's worth having the distinction, but they definitely belong in the same category as other pubs & bars. It often requires real local knowledge as to whether anyone can wander in & get a drink. Also significant in their own right as, declining, cultural institutions. (Alternative such as leisure=club, club=social don't separate them from things like WIs, which I think is important).

Hi,

We're just having a discussion on talk-gb about no U-turns on roundabout flares. I notice you added quite a few on roundabouts along the dualled section of the A453. I have no recollection of seeing any signage forbidding such turns, which AFAIK are not forbidden in the Highway Code, and no signage is visible on Mapillary (https://www.mapillary.com/app/?focus=photo&lat=52.89820065391223&lng=-1.1983677208015706&z=17&pKey=yO3BF2Hj89inaFfzY8hkrg). There is a double white line which probably does make such a manoeuvre illegal, but for a different reason.

I'd be interested to know the reason for adding these because quite a few contributors have done similar things. (I know at one stage Mapbox were adding them, but most I've looked at seem to be added by volunteer contributors).

Hi & Welcome to OSM,

I'm not sure if you intended to delete the path rather than change it to a footpath. It looks very clear on aerial imagery, and your comment implies that it still exists.

Let me know if you need any assistance.

For some reason this appears as a preset in Vespucci and can therefore be accidentally set. Fixed

The name & it's variants are documented in Place Names of Cardiganshire (https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=FYVnAAAAMAAJ&focus=searchwithinvolume&q=ochor page 514), which suggests the OS changed it in the late 19th century. I only know about this book, because the author is my cousin who grew up in Tregaron.

Hi,

I've amended the node you created in such a way that it should show up on the main map now. One question: the Ordnance Survey open data have the name as Ochr Garth not Ochor Garth, do you know if this is an error or an acceptable variant.

Hi, If you change to power=plant can you also change the associated tags generator:* to plant:* (a pain I know, they all should just be power:type etc as there seems no good reason why they have to be associated with the actual type of power). It helps keep things separate when individual banks of solar panels are mapped in solar farms (as with the other ways you added).
Thanks,

Jerry

You seem to have deleted a lot of addresses here. In general I think the policy of the OSM-NL community is to retain BAG nodes in the location provided by BAG. You mention on IRC 'cleaning up the map', this sounds a bit like 'tagging for the renderer' - check the wiki for more on this phrase. Address data may look messy on the Standard map rendering, but is essential for many other uses.

Splott was certainly residential in the '90s when I used to park on the back streets, doubt if it's changed since then.
