This area has a couple of different names, but "Merritt" is not one that anyone actually uses. (It looks like it came from an old map the city used to plan street tree plantings in ~1980 that has been misinterpreted as an authoritative map of actual Oakland neighborhoods by some people on the internet in the last few years.)

"Eastlake" is the name I hear most commonly these days. There's also "Clinton" (or "Clinton Park"), or it's just considered part of "San Antonio". There's also "New Chinatown" but that one is controversial and you don't see it much these days.
