The off-road alternate route of the Grand Illinois Trail between Freeport and Pecatonica was impassable (completely overgrown) in Summer 2020. This section is also part of the Pecatonica Prairie Trail / which has shown this section as "under development" since the 2013 map update here: http://pecatonicaprairietrail.com/uploads/PPT-map.pdf. Only the road alternate route (also marked as the Grand Illinois Trail) is useable. Ride Illinois' 2015 Grand Illinois Trail guide shows only the road route between Freeport and Pecatonica not this off-road alternate: https://rideillinois.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/GIT-Guide-2015.pdf
