I don't want to see mean or pushy, but is this an actual place? Or is it a county?

43701420

If it is truely related to the relation(county) we should fix the wikidata item to not reflect it as a town then as it will reoccur over and over. Wiki data says it's a town with the coordinates less than 15km difference: https://m.wikidata.org/wiki/Q3501230?uselang=en-US
If this is not an actual town(osm) why is it still on the map?

If you believe it is a wrong wiki article, then please remove it. If it is the correct wikidata, why remove it?

Well I am aware that the German populous dislikes imports

43742323

If you are scared of poor data, kindly point out a wikidata tag that is wrong

43742323

Qa tiles was to obtain node ids thats it. Everything else in josm

Do you understand English? These. Are. Not. Automated. Edits.

43742323

Why does a offline edit have to be discussed? Do you have to email a mailing list when you edit a road, a building, a tree?

43742323

also what algorithm please see the steps above.

43742323

But i'm not using an API, nor find and replace so what's your point?

43742323

What I find quite strange is if I were to commit this one by one. No one would bat an eye, but I do it in a batch and questions are raised. It's the same thing as if I were doing it through ID or JOSM. The IDs are correct and I am not sure why they are being questioned?

The 7th position of the decimal is a precision of less than 10cm.....I may have touched it by accident in JOSM

I downloaded the mapbox QA-tiles a couple days ago. Extracted the nodes with "place" tag. I then have been looking up places with same name. This is the result of my labour.

It's the same idea behind:
https://www.mapbox.com/blog/geocoding-wikidata/
https://www.mapbox.com/blog/id-wikidata/

also the automated edits are not applicable in this case as I am reviewing all the changesets manually. Thank you

I just told you.
1. Go to name field
2. Ctrl+c
3. www.wikidata.org
4. ctrl+v
5. Find city
6. Find ID
7. Ctrl+c
8. Go back and add wikidata
9. ctrl+v

Adding wikidata. You take a place name and look it up here: www.wikidata.org. The resulting ID gives you access to wikipedia pages, meta data etc

I did say roughly. I did not use google translate. Mein Deutsch ist nicht so gut. Side job still qualifies as a job. It means you probably know woodpeck personally in real life (judging that geofabrik is not that big of a company)

@mikelmaron while I do agree with you, it's easy to police people into obeying Guildelines(which by definition should be a suggested coarse of action instead of a hardset rule book that if you don't obey you get reverted) to a T when you work with someone from the DWG:
From:
osm.wiki/User:Nakaner

Derzeit studiere ich Geodäsie und Geoinformatik (Master) am Karlsruher Institut für Technologie und habe einen Nebenjob in der Geofabrik.

Which translates roughly to I have a job at geofabrik. Coincidently the person that is reverting all of our work (woodpeck) is a co-founder of Geofabrik. Ever since the mass revert in Canada's north: https://lists.openstreetmap.org/pipermail/talk-ca/2016-September/007225.html
Nakaner has had it out for myself, Rps333 and DenisCarriere.

He's even gone into my history as far as one year back and threatened to revert the data:
changeset/33248922 which I feel is harassment and has made me want to quit contributing to OSM as a whole(which shouldn't be the atmosphere in the community)

I have also added Gatineau to the import catalog here:
osm.wiki/Import/Catalogue

Thank you for your understanding. Good day.

Michael please see:
osm.wiki/Gatineau/Import#Follow_up_permission
Which clears up any doubt you had.
This puts us on par with Montreal's open data catalog where they needed permission due to CC-BY-4.0
