Plus that I strongly hold to the principle that one runway should be mapped once and only once.

So they say, nah, some of them...
I for one disagree. Our own wiki article opens with "a runway is an area" ... What more do you want?

I have now updated our wiki, to warn for this - and possibly other - source of disinformation: icao=*

121755061

Thank you very much! However, DAFIF is even more dumb than the metar website - it has been closed to the public at large since 2006 or thereabouts. Be assured you will not get any response!
I have understood at times that codes like your LB29 were used by publishers of aeronautical satnav info, probably Garmin; they too may well have been confused by DAFIF.
Kindly yours,
Karel ADAMS

That site is an eternal source of confusion. DO NOT TRUST IT!!!
ICAO codes are ALWAYS composed of four letters A-Z and nothing else. Check wikipedia and/or icao websites for confirmation.

Is this a joke, or for real? Satellite images show no runway, dlapilota has nothing to report at this place... I am not convinced that there really exists an aerodrome here.

121160788

PS: I consulted the aerodrome's article on the Russian Wikipedia, and it mentions one of the helipads as being part of the aerodrome "ВПП 03/21 (Наземный испытательный тренировочный комплекс авиационный "НИТКА")" which seems to support my idea of not considerig the verrtodrom as a separate aerodrome.

121160788

Upon closer examination, I see that you have mapped the helipads inside the aerodrome, but the apron outside. That is more confusing than ever! One could map the heliport separately, but then with full details (name, local_ref, &c) and as one single heliport, not as three as it stands now. And including all the area allocated to helicopter operations: hangars, apron(s), helipad(s) and all. Depending on what official sources say, it might be preferred to consider the "heliport" as just a corner of the aerodrome, dedicated to helicopters.

121160788

Please refer to aeroway=heliport aeroway=heliport is an alternative to aeroway=aerodrome, for those aviation terrains used solely by helicopters. You cannot have an aerodrome, even if it is a heliport, inside another aerodrome. Better indeed to map these three as aeroway=apron
On the other hand I see nothing wrong with mapping fuelling facilities as amenity=fuel
Regarding the helipads, I have re-tagged one (the most obvious) as aeroway=parking_position, since that is what you say it is.
Thanks for politie and constructive discussion!

This is incorrect mapping. I had corrected it but this reverted without discussion or consultation. Please understand that, as mapped now, we see a bunch of separate aerodromes (a heliport is an aerdrome, one for helicopters only) and this is not the case, there is one big aerodrome only. I intend to re-revert, possibly request support, but should welcome discussion first of all.

Removing the node describing Little Farm Airstrip was, imho, not correct; I intend to fre-add it.

Location is inconsistent with other information, for example https://www.ukairfieldguide.net/airfields/idsworth which places it further South.

I thoroughly dislike using the are:aeroway - it contrary to the very basic idea of "one feature, one entry in OSM". You might also wish to consult my comments on the talk page of the "runway" article. And do not forget that the wiki is not a hard book of law, it is rather a list of common practices and recommendations.

120772484

Our very own wiki article about runways opens with the words "A runway is a defined rectangular area" so why should runways be mapped as NOT an area??
I have always questioned the "rule" of mapping runways as lines, even if I can see and appreciate the historical background.

No slur was intended, better to have a bit of info than none at all.

119764830

thanks for adding information, but is a bit of a half helping. What sort of runway is this, or in other words what is it used for? It seems a bit long for a model_aerodrome (which is mapped in a very specific way, cfr. wiki) but shortish for man-carrying planes, except perhaps trike ultralights. Clarification would be nice, we could then add something to describe the "aerodrome".

What is the use or utility of adding relation/13923241, which has only one single member? I intend to remove, because I see no added value.
