Thank you for adding the features in your region @Ngawit.

Have you heard of the #OSMaPaaralan project? Perhaps you help verify the location of local schools in Bunawan?

Hello @BookFriend PH, and welcome to OpenStreetMap!

This element you mapped is more appropriately tagged as "shop=books". There's more info here about this type of element: osm.org/wiki/Tag:shop%3Dbooks

Other optional but helpful information would be street address, contact information and your websites.

Thanks, and we hope you continue contributing to OpenStreetMap!

Hello. Here's a tip for improving buildings when iD editor: press 'Q' on your keyboard while a building is selected to "square" its corners.

One more thing, I was looking around the vicinity of this area and noticed that there are many untraced roads.

There's a tool called RapiD which we recommend in OSMaPaaralan, and it leverages AI detection for mapping roads faster, and contributors can help by reviewing or validating them. You might want to check that out, too: https://mapwith.ai/rapid#background=Maxar-Standard&disable_features=points,boundaries,power,past_future&map=16.00/13.5106/123.3712

Hello again. Whether it's rural or urban, we're trying to digitize buildings based on rooftop outlines. Looking closely at the available imagery, this doesn't look like the case here, and it seems that you've mapped several buildings with just a single polygon.

It doesn't always mean the building on the ground follows the shape, but it's highly likely. In many cases, here's where local knowledge, or street-level imagery becomes useful. Generally, though the basic footprint is always a good start.

If you're looking at a quicker way of improving the map, you can start by adding nodes of essential or foundational features (healthcare facilities, pharmacies, stores, offices, amenities, evacuation areas, etc.) that many people are likely to find important.

If it's safe for you to do so, you can also go out and collect information to add to the map using FieldPapers or apps on your smartphone.

Another way of contributing is "socializing" OpenStreetMap in your neighbourhood (e.g. collaborating with community orgs or the barangay) -- but always keep in mind that it's always safety first!

Great to see you in the OSM-PH loco channel in Telegram. Feel free to ask questions there, if you have any more.

Hello @Mig_Imperial. Thank you for fixing errors on OpenStreetMap!

If you're keen on helping to map schools in your favorite neighbourhoods, check out the OSMaPaaralan project. Project background is here: osm.org/wiki/Philippines/OSMaPaaralan

Schools are foundational infrastructure in the community, and there's an available micro-tasking challenge to help you map schools, based on some information from the Department of Education. (They've provided usable attributes to OSM, but the quality of their location attribute varies a lot, hence the error you discovered here.)

We have volunteers who focus on specific geographic regions, especially their home towns, but you're welcome to contribute anywhere.

The micro-tasking challenge in the vicinity of Baao is here: https://maproulette.org/browse/challenges?challengeSearch=123.33646774291994%2C13.429695112188552%2C123.42676162719728%2C13.47802730219969&keywords=osmapaaralan&location=intersectingMapBounds

Thank you for your contributions, @Mig_Imperial. I noticed that you're adding street names, too -- and that is important in helping improve the accuracy of the map.

One of the best practices in OpenStreetMap is to map buildings individually, whenever possible, and to keep corners straight ("squaring" or orthogonalized), just how typical buildings look like in real life.

If the imagery is fuzzy, or you're unable to trace individual buildings, we also use landuse=residential to mark groups of houses settlements.

It is incorrect to add toll=yes or toll booths on drive-through service roads of fast-food establishments. Please refrain from adding any more.

Thank you for fixing.

Hi there. In case you haven't noticed, the default Bing imagery you are using are very old. Try available imagery from Maxar or ESRI instead.

See: https://learnosm.org/en/beginner/id-editor/#configuring-the-background-layer

Thanks for contributing street-level imagery via Mapillary!

I've noticed the several parking areas you've added along a road. Have you seen the parking lane tags, osm.org/wiki/Key:parking:lane ? They look more appropriate for these, since they define whether or not the highways themselves have parking, on which sides, and with which conditions.

The amenity=parking tag is more for apt for car parks.

It's good to see you back and contributing again to #OSMaPaaralan! I hope you've been doing well.

Hi there. You've been adding a lot of details to OpenStreetMap.

Kudos, and many thanks!
