Why delete name tags?

51087590

Please refer to the wiki for tagging instructions:

osm.wiki/Names#Name_is_the_name_only

In particular:

"Multipolygon Baldo Forest: do not include the object type or other OSM terminology, if it does not apply outside of OSM"

This means that you should write:

"name: sere village"

but rather:

"name: sere"
"place: village"

Why do you remove tags with transliterated names? Are they actually wrong, or do you not need them?

51087337

Hello,

Did you notice in the following changeset user @%DA%95%D8%A7%D8%B3%D8%AA%DB%8C removed what looks like valid data from way/19792935

I can't understand his changeset comment unfortunately

Best regards

hi there,

may i ask where did you source the name and name language? you tagged it as 'arc', which to me seems to be a historical language: http://www.loc.gov/standards/iso639-2/php/langcodes_name.php?code_ID=23

currently used would most likely be one of syriac languages: https://www.ethnologue.com/language/syr

there's some more info about those here: wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/WikiProject_Iraq

let me know if what i'm writing makes sense please

thanks,
