While riding, my PDAs have a habit turning off/switching away from the GPS software on accidental button presses while in my bag, so I've been experimenting with ways of mounting them on my bike. I tried a plastic-and-metal blanking panel from a computer which was an almost perfect fit, but after a few miles of rough riding the metal started to come away from the plastic. Scratch that idea. I've now attached a cheap clear plastic pencil case to my handlebars with sticky tape and double-sided velcro straps (precision engineering this is not). That's working quite well but for the fact that hard knocks on the front (common on many off-road trails around here) can cause the Zodiac to reboot. I'll experiment with some padding.

I recently had the opportunity to do some mapping in Aranjuez. Most of the inner city grid of one-way streets should be there, though I'm sure to have messed up some of the directions. There's also a couple of incomplete streets. Camera-mapping would really benefit from some way to store the orientation...

I haven't uploaded the GPS tracks yet, but will at some point.

Made it to Honduras today and had some time in the hotel to work on mapping some of my previous GPX tracks. Mapped some highways in Baja California Sur, Mexico as well as a tiny bit of La Paz. The 'simplify way' command in the utilsplugin for JOSM is great. You'll have to change the sensitivity on the Einstein page to get good results, however.

Last weekend I walked around Killiney Hill Park. I brought my new NaviGPS BGT-31 and recorded some traces. I was then able to add the footpaths to the park. This is my first real contribution to OpenStreetMap because no-one had made traces there before and you can't see the paths from the aerial maps.

Along with a very small part of talbot green. (which was already on the map but no streets before)

To those who aren't familar to ynywsybwl, its a small little town with exceptionally narrow streets, a seemingly frequent bus service, well, you see buses a lot because of the narrow roads and the fact they can't really get thru!

i've started on bits of it, I won't be adding all of it just the bits I drive down sorry!, although i shall try and make several detours to add in as many possible streets, however its no joy but theres a lot more detail than before!

Since I seem to be the only one who's added here, you can rest assured all steets i've added in have the correct speed limits (all the way to pontypridd) and I belive to have correct naming, although its confusing ware some streets start and begin as each street seems to have at least 3 names...

I've also added some more details and footpath's to my home town, i'm hoping if anyone uses these maps as satnav's they default roads without speeds to 48kmph, as i seem to of left a lot, keep meaning to add as much detail but for some reason teh maxspeed tag i always seem to forget.

I hope more add to this project, although its nice realising a bit to you often goto is completly blank and you get to start mapping, its nice to see palces you'd think wouldn't be added and then are in great detail!

I'm in 2 minds to edit the a470 dual carrigeway, just smoothen out he corners and what not, (same with m4 between cardiff and bridgend)

Danke!

SHORT ENGLISH SUMMARY:

Most streets in Osnabrück (Germany) are declared as "tertiary roads" instead of "residential roads". It would be nice if somebody with knowledges of Osnabrück can correct this. Thank you.

Hmm, well, well, this project has been hiding from me till now. I love the idea. Seems very time consuming waste of time, love it. I have no time, so this may help my struggles to meet universal enlightenment by wasting more time than I have and disappering into Nirvana with a loud *pop*. :-)

Hanging out in a hotel in El Salvador and uploading the GPX tracks from my trip so far: Seattle to San Miguel over ~6 months.

Wrote a little batch uploader in Python and gave it a delay of 15 minutes so as not to clog up the upload queue.

Also finally made some changes using JOSM. Added a park and a lake near the house I grew up in and also connected a road that was broken in two for some reason (probably due to the automatically imported TIGER data).

Also added some stop signs and traffic signals. Not sure how you'd mark a stop sign that only affected one lane of traffic (at a T-intersection where only the T's 'handle' has to stop, for example).
