As I work all around the world, I get a chance to survey areas where I normally wouldn't go. Vigra is one such. Travelling to Norway, my main intensions will be to visit friends and familly, but work have brought me to Vigra, where Ålesund airport is located, about 30 minutes by car from the city.

During evenings off I have had the chance to go for bicycle rides and walks, and bringing my GPS in a pocket gives me tracks to put up on the map. Before my job here is completed for this time, my goal is to have the main road from the tunel at Valderøy to Vigra Airport, the road from Valderøy via Giske to Godøy (there is another tunel, so I'll probably stop at the tunel entrance), and some other local roads put on the map.

...I bought a GPS and started to record streets around Guarapari, than it became a few trips up and down to Vitoria, and than a few trips to Guacui. It even became a trip to Rio de Janeiro and back. My main goal is set to get Guarapari surveyed and put on the map, but I'll also look into connect as many places within Espirito Santo as I can, and get the main routes connecting Espirito Santo with Rio de Janeiro, Minas Girais and Bahia states

Finally holiday season, and im going in a more than 2000 km trip, crossing all Spain from top to down. The best thing its about my base op in Lanjarón, Granada with lots of "here be dragons" spaces all around

Today I made my first experiences with JOSM and I have to say I am pretty much impressed. As a 'GIS specialist' I am still surprised how well OSM works and JOSM is a very well engineered and easy to use tool for a task that usually is quite complex. I cleaned up my so far uploaded data with it needing not much time at all.

And - I reclassified Kupang. It has about 300.000 - 400.000 inhabitants and the provincial capital. I guess it therefore qualifies as 'city' (it was a 'town).

Software-Update days:

I was going to make a start Huntingdon on Tuesday, but it was so hot I thought cycling round a town wasn't going to be particularly pleasant, so instead I filled in some rural holes either side of the A1198 Ermine Street, the Royston to Huntingdon road, and completed:
- Whaddon
- Bassingbourn barracks (what of it I could do without infringing the "restricted place as defined by the Official Secrets Act")
- Wimpole village (stopped for lunch at the National Trust's Wimpole Hall, but that's been pretty thoroughly done already)
- Arrington (had had some attention, but was not previously complete)
- Croydon (ditto)
- Shingay-cum-Wendy
- Steeple Morden (had had some attention but was disappointingly arbitrary in what had been done)
- Ashwell (which is over the border in Hertfordshire)
- Odsey (Ashwell & Morden Station)

Ashwell's a pleasant place, but bigger than I was expecting (pop. about 1700) at the end of a long hot day, and on the side of a hill too. But it seemed silly not to finish it since I was there, so I was a bit later back than I intended.

Astonishing progress on the cycle map recently - I see route 41 has arrived east of Warwick, a bunch of stuff around the South Coast, some new routes in Scotland, loads of regional routes in Cheshire, and no doubt a load more I've not spotted. I've added NCN52 north of Nuneaton and the proposed route of NCN46 between Ledbury and Hereford. Good weather + long evenings = cycle mapping, clearly.

First of all, i don't hvae any GPS device, because i only earn an amount of possibly 2-3 US Dollars a day. I only depend on my own local knowledge. Second of all, there are some streets that aren't aligned, and sometimes are out of place.

And I can't coordinate with the local authorities related to "mapping out" areas of San Pablo City due to my "busy schedule". (Note: What i'm talking about is the San Pablo City in the Philippines and its coverage is quite messy.)

Hopefully, you have a GPS device and try to drive in the streets of San Pablo City and nearby areas (and possibly a good portion of the CALABARZON area) I appreciate your help.

During the last week I started creating data with my Holux GPS in Kupang. Kupang is the provincial capital of Nusa Tenggara Timur, in South-Eastern Indonesia.

Today my entries can be seen for the first time. :-) It's nice to start mapping a blank spot in OSM, has some kind of explorer feeling to it. ;-)
