I've discovered relations and am using them to map some of the public bus routes in my city, Dublin, Ireland.

I'm mapping them like this:
* Bus stops are nodes, with highway=bus_stop and operator="Dublin Bus".
* The relations are type=route route=bus ref=$BUSNUMBER operator="Dublin Bus"
* I'm then adding the bus stop nodes to the relation. Sometimes I make them have the 'stop' role, but I think it should be obvious when a node is a member of a bus route and it's a highway=bus_stop it should be obvious. :)
* I'm adding the ways. No need to mark them with a certain role. If a bus route splits, (because of oneway restrictions), I'm just adding them. It should be obvious when this happens (the route splits in 2 along two opposite oneway streets, then meets up later).

Any thoughts? It might be fun later to figure out how to get mapnik to render these as a separate later.

Hrmm, well yes the subject says it all, i've sort lost interest a bit in osm, i think its mainly the high fuel prices have made me less likely to go that extra bit further to map new roads, when i walk someware new tho i'll still happily add it in :)

anyways, the bypass over cowbridge, one direction of travel has been rendered as a straight line on osmrender and he proper osm map, when i goto edit the road is exactly how it was last week, i've added in some ramps to it and a very very small section of cowbridge, and that seems to of made the render go wrong?

I hope to finish all of pencoed at some point, its pretty complete, just new sections (which i did trace) but I didn't save the traces, and haven't been inclined to go back! (very rich housing estate in one bit and I feel a bit out of place to be honest....theres lots of small streets with dead ends only a few metres more and i noticed quite a few people watching me last time i did it)

Hallo OSM Mapper,

wieder aufknibbeln.

Wir schlagen daher vor

Over several days last week I've been on holiday in Powys, gathering as much data as I could in the time available. There is still a lot to do in the area in which I was based (roughly between Newtown, Llanfair Caereinion & Welshpool) but at least there are a few more roads in there now so that we can start to have a framework to work to.

I'm going back in August so I hope to fill in some of the gaps then if nobody beats me to it in the mean time.

The only item that I mapped which I've not added so far is the Powys Gorsedd stones in the Goat Field Arboretum in Llanfair Caereinion, I need to do a bit of research to work out what to tag them as.

I can highly recommend this area as a great place to go on holiday. There are lots of interesting things to see in the area.

Welp, I've been on hiatus for a while now. Took a big break from driving. I tried to finish my software but there was(is) just too much to accomplish by just one person working on a ->huge<- project. Also need new component sets and Delphi 2007 Architect (major bling). I've been using D7pro and I could get away with D2007Pro but my skills have grown to point of desiring the extra bell and whistles. ECO, UML modeling and other neato stuff I have never got a chance to play with yet. So why does programmer drive a truck? Well.. besides the one or two hours I spend a day (if that) interacting with others I sit and construct the data structures in my mind. When I'm on break I fire up Delphi and code those ideas. Specifically writing trucking software I also get to see and use the very thing I am creating in action also so that is big plus. I was preparing my new equipment, which includes a TC1100 tablet and a BlueAngel(SX66) for doing a little more trucking. While reloading my old recorded GPS data back into Delorme I enabled all my custom made POIs of every where I've been also the GPS tracks from these trucking trips where the basis of my Trucking Across America data that took me forever to convert and upload. I'm hoping the screen shots can be shown all right cause they kinda look thumbnails currently. Anyways retiring my Hp Ze4325us to permanent desktop duty with a new triple fan cooler pad under it. Seems to wanna overheat watching YouTube videos these days. If I run it in under a low power load or with a cooling pad that seems to keep it's temperature down thus not locking up. I bought it brand new and it has done it's job flawlessly. Oh yeah, I still can't decide which BT Logger to get; I'm really leaning towards the solar type that never needs to be plugged in. I think the BT loggers all pretty cool which makes it just a harder decision!!!
