The start of exploring the outer islands more. GlobalSat logger works well even on a 3 hour ferry trip.

Walked southern half of Sonning Common yesterday to fill in missing streets and footpaths, and add public buildings.
OpenStreetBugs (made by Xavier) is an awesome, no-signup-needed TODO and FIXME entry system that you can tell your non-OSMing friends about. The only thing I can think of that it doesn't do (yet!) is automatically flag up FIXMEs from the OSM database so that users don't double-report known problems.
I'll be mapping parts of Abingdon on Saturday, weather permitting.
I learned today that Georgetown has an airport. The first thing that occurred the me was that I should map it! That done, I went to my home town and mapped its regional airport. While I was in the area, I noticed that the extension of US 60 was not reflected in the OSM data, so I went ahead and fixed that up, too.
Added a few more streets in E16 from recent walks, and added a few more buildings in the Royal Victoria Dock area. Royal Victoria and Custom House DLR stations now have platforms on OSM after a recent walk (or will after the next render).
A few bus stops added, along with a post office in E16. I have a plan of action for the area to get as many points of interest as well as street names over the summer, and I am slowly but surely adding bits where I can.
Irgendwo wohnen all die knapp 100.000 Menschen...
Ideas for a new plugin that will allow MapWindow (open source .Net GIS) to communicate with OSM are being posted at:
I've now got a small file of house names created with tomtom adding the location as a poi, i have currently 303 house names listed and all except maybe one or 2 are extremely accurate, (those small few are ones which i forgot to zoom to the closest level in tomtom and are slightly out of place)
i've made some nodes with house names on open street map by just putting a green node down in potlatch then adding the name tag with the house name, this doesn't show up in the renderer and does show up in search results :) (which is very useful for me)
is there anyway i can import these nodes/waypoints into potlatch? i've tried using poiedit 2007 to convert them to a gpx file to load them in but that doesn't seem to work.
I realise a lot of people aren't interested in this, but for me it would be incredibly useful, google is horribly inaccurate, poi's on tomtom are not very useful for remote locations as they just try to point you to the nearest road, often quite quite far away, i'd like to be able to search for a house/building and see exactly ware it is on the map so I don't get lost and to help my co-workers
outdated
Hallo Leute,
osm.org/?lat=45.857&lon=10.775&zoom=11&layers=B00FT
Seltsamerweise ist er im Osmarender zu sehen:
osm.org/?lat=45.857&lon=10.775&zoom=11&layers=0B0FT
Hier die Tags:
area: yes
name: Lago di Garda
natural: water

I'm mapping my local neighborhood and I don't know how to properly mark a junction with traffic lights that intersects with a dual carriageway street. Any help on that would be appreciated.
The location for example is osm.org/?lat=32.31228&lon=34.86977&zoom=17&layers=0B0FT
A good time was had at the Bermondsey meet-up last night. Cloudmade were there in force. Next mini mapping evening will be back at the Isle of Dogs next Wednesday, but I wont be able to make it unfortunately. I'm going to be whitewater kayaking in the Alps next week. I'll try to develop the whitewater maps! Trouble is my NaviGPS has a log file problem which isn't normally a problem, but rather limits my holiday capacity. Ah well. I should probably be concentrating on not drowning myself!
I did my first with JOSM, naming some streets in Worms, Germany and splitting some of the streets
I've relented and used Potlatch from work (forgive me on both accounts) to add some familiar street names around Moorooka (Brisbane, (sigh) Australia).
Seems a pretty straightforward interface, though I'm confused by my changes not showing anywhere except when I select the ways and look at the properties/tags from within Potlatch. Maybe I'm not saving them?
Have been saving tracks from the months or two, but not yet sure what use I'll be able to make of them.
Though this is addictive, I plan to try harder to use an open editing platform in future.
Removed many non exsistant roads.
Removed roads where there are none in the local Land Preserve.
As a Potlatch user, I want to define a small area as 'graveyard'.
First I click a closed shape. While this shape is selected, I click on "Add a new tag". Into the left field I type "amenity", into the right field "grave_yard". However, the shape does not render correctly, not in "Edit" view, and also not after 1 week in "View". What am I doing wrong? Any hints greatly appreciated...
